Batth Time for Town?
Thursday, 30th Aug 2018 21:56

Wolves centre-half Danny Batth is reported to be a Blues target ahead of tomorrow’s 5pm loan deadline.

According to the Daily Mail, Town boss Paul Hurst is hopeful of adding Batth, 27, to his squad ahead of Friday's cut-off.

Another central defender is the Blues’ remaining target having secured the additions of winger Jordan Graham - also from Wolves - and forward Jon Walters from Burnley in the last few days.

Town are looking at a number of options including former skipper Gareth McAuley, who is a free agent, and AFC Wimbledon’s Deji Oshilaja, while we understand ex-West Ham man James Collins has also been considered, although it’s believed the 35-year-old Welshman is set for a return to the Hammers.

Brierley Hill-born Batth, who is 6ft 3in tall, came through the ranks at Wolves during former Blues boss Mick McCarthy’s spell as manager and spent time on loan at Colchester, Sheffield United and Sheffield Wednesday - and was also linked with Town - before establishing himself in the Wolves first team under Kenny Jackett.

Although still the club captain at Molineux where he is contracted until the summer of 2020, Batth is yet to make an appearance this season and is expected to make a move out on loan. He has also been linked with Leeds United and Sheffield Wednesday.
