Nsiala's Red Card Appeal Rejected
Thursday, 30th Aug 2018 14:37

Toto Nsiala’s appeal against his red card at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday has been rejected by the FA’s Independent Regulatory Commission and the centre-half now faces a three-match ban.

Nsiala was dismissed in the 75th minute at Hillsborough for a challenge on Fernando Forestieri in which he appeared to cleanly win the ball prior to the Owls striker colliding with him.

The former Shrewsbury man will miss Sunday's East Anglian derby against Norwich and the two games following the international break at Hull City and at home to Brentford.

Here comes the meltdown. At the end of the day it was a studs up lunge on the player. I'm not saying it was a red but you very rarely get those sorts of dismissals overturned.

Idiots. The Regulatory Commission is simply there to protect the independence of referees however wrong they may be.

This is a disgrace, and absolute disgrace.
Personally don't feel like i'm exaggerating when I say this decision is no different to your boss lying/covering for you at work if you made a shocking mistake.
The referee will get his game this weekend and crack on like nothing happening whereas we have to suffer for 3 games now without IMO already our best CB!!!
Someone please tell me what the world of football is coming too... it is decisions like this that make me despair with the sporting authorities. Shambles.

What an absolutely disgraceful decision! Their bias backing of their referees is a joke. Toto won the ball at least 10 yards earlier than Forestieri came running into him. Signing a new defender or two is an absolute must before the weekend now.

Absolutely baffling decision!

Ref was Jeremy Simpson and he was also in charge of the Forest Newcastle game last night in which he denied Ayoze Perez a penalty in the last minute for one of the most blatant fouls you will ever see. This ref shouldn't even be allowed to officiate at this level.

Jeremy Simpson and Tim Robinson are the refs we have had against Wednesday and Villa. Hopefully we wont have them in charge of any other games this season!

The issue is when the decision was initially made, whilst it wasn't actually a red at the time the fact remains that it was enough of a risky challenge to give reason for doubt thus when reviewed it hasn't been overturned

I expected that, Hurst expected that, what else could the FA do? Ref was so close to it, and short of declaring their own blind or an idiot, the decision stands. We have enough players who can play there and maybe keep a clean sheet on Sunday !

This is a discraceful decision.

I just hope the manager, players and fans can use this in a positive way to add even more steel to the determination to attack and destroy the budgies. COYB

Looking forward to non-contact football on Sunday then... it is one of the most ridiculous decisions I have ever seen, but I am not surprised. Nothing gets overturned these days.

Absolute joke.

The game is run by total loons.

Unbelievable! Whatever footage did they watch? Without doubt the football establishment backing the ref even in the face of irrefutable evidence

Games turned into Basketball, no contact at all. Winning the ball fairly but catching the player in the follow through was good enough for decades now its pathetic.

Could they not have upheld and also increased the ban? At least it remains just the 3 games

Shocking, not easy to respect officials when they refuse to own up to mistakes. But then again is it actually respect that they are after, it's all got a little bit judge dread with referees.

No surprise , to be honest. The independent commission that looked at it are seriously mistaken. Just look at the above picture and see how close Nsiala is to the ball as opposed to Forestieri.
