Bid Was for Bramble Monday, 24th Jun 2002 13:09 Reports this afternoon say the bid Town turned down at the end of last week was from Newcastle for Titus Bramble. Bobby Robson's club are said to have bid £4 million (£4.2 million according to Newcastle sources) for the England U21 but that figure does not meet Town's valuation. However, that doesn't look likely to be the end of the matter. Town chairman David Sheepshanks and Newcastle counterpart Freddie Shepherd are continuing discussions. Bramble has long been linked with a move to the North-East where he would join his friend Kieron Dyer. The Ipswich-born defender is out of contract at the end of next season and has refused to sign an extension to his deal at Portman Road.
