Town Confirm Red Card Appeal
Tuesday, 28th Aug 2018 11:30

Town have confirmed they are appealing against Toto Nsiala’s red card at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Nsiala was sent off in the 75th minute for a challenge on Fernando Forestieri when the central defender appeared to cleanly win the ball before the Owls striker collided with him in the aftermath of the tackle.

Town had until today to lodge their appeal which will be heard by the Football Association Regulatory Commission later this week.

As things stand Nsiala is facing a three-match ban, starting with Sunday’s East Anglian derby at home to Norwich City.

Do we have a choice? If we don't then we are definitely down to one recognised CB against Norwich (apart from maybe Woolfe)

Ridiculous decision from the ref. Are they trying to get rid of tackling from the game?

Agree we should challenge this decision, but not optimistic that justice will be done.

Very little point in the appeal process if this one doesn't get overturned.

Seems high time that referees were compelled to make public their written comments / conclusions whenever a decision of this ilk is appealed .They have a really difficult task but ,like the players, they are these days performing before , and to, a much more well educated audience both pitch side and on TV or retrospective videos .
This decision merits close examination , and though we do not want to ' crucify ' the officials , we and they are human and a little less arrogance and a bit more humility coupled with a desire to ' educate ' would do a lot of good .

We had to appeal, but we will lose this. Ref was right there and however ridiculous, he says he say it clearly, so unless the Commission find the ref blind, then they will likely as not, back him.

To repeat, it was a ridiculous decision from yet another sub-standard referee.....and there was me still getting over the Ref's performance in the Villa match which ranked with the worst i have ever seen. But if you believe things come in 3s then:-
- free-kick that wasn't that ended up costing us at Rotherham
- just decision after decision from worst ref ever (incl red card) vs Villa
- Saturday's straight red
Then to say we are due a break doesn't come close. COYB - stuff the Scum !

We should not have to appeal something so obvious. Why cant referees just stand up and admit when they have made such a blatant mistake and the card be withdrawn? Surely everyone who has eyes can see that there was no foul let alone a card. Refs should be allowed to see the tv evidence and just say "Sorry I got that wrong" and save all this appeal nonsense.

Never a red card in a trillion years - worst decision I have ever seen. If you get red carded for winning the ball the most games would finish with just the goalies on the pitch . When we win the appeal the referee should never be allowed to ref another game. He cost us at least a point if not all three. I hope the tosser rots in hell.

This was an absolutely shocking decision by the ref. Edun and now Nsiala have been wrongly sent off. The standard of officiating so far this season has been absolutely dreadful. If this isn't overturned I will be amazed.

Well, Town are well justified in appealing on this. However knowing the FA they will unequivocally back the ref. 'He clearly saw the incident and responded to what he saw'...And they probably will extend the ban as well for being 'frivolous'. Just cant win against the FA. Unfortunately the refereeing in the PL is just as bad this season...and we wonder why there were no British refs at the world cup.

So if we loose the appeal? they double the sentence?

This ref decision clearly changed the course of the game and he alone is responsible for the opposition collecting all 3 points from that Red Card . I think the score should also be rescinded to 1-1 prior to his ridiculous decision!

I am not confident this appeal will be won. The actual challenge looks OK but the follow through can be construed as dangerous perhaps the reason for the sending off. Be a great shame if this appeal is lost as definitely need Nsiala in the back line on Sunday. I may be wrong but I think the last time we were bottom of the league was 6 years ago and we called for MM - any repeat do you think lol.

how come the world cup can manage to review decisions in match time but not england ?

If a blatant error or judgement cannot be seen from the video by powers that be, such judgement brings the FA into disrepute. Most appeals are rejected but for justice in the system to be up help, this appeal has to be recognised.

It was a bad decision and should only have been a yellow but SW player rolled around enough to convince ref it was a red. No chance of it being overturned sadly.
While not condoning players making more of it, Ipswich players need to be more street wise as we've had worse tackles against us but nothing (Villa eg) given.

the ref has an opinion that we have not heard. some of you are judge and jury. and lets not keep on blaming the ref for the result. He did not change it, play did,

The club have done the right thing
No point in speculating or making further comment until the FA give their verdict.
We can only hope that they take an objective and pragmatic approach.

It's clearly a fair challenge. It will be over turned. I doubt we'll lose one of our starting line up for 3 matches over this.

Mind you... they way things have been... na, surely not.

i have looked at this loads of times, the ref wasnt even looking when the two players colided, as soon as nasila won the ball the ref was looking at the path of the ball so unless he had vision the same as a owl he couldnt have seen the challenge just reacted to it.

will it make any difference i doubt it, the refs have been very poor over the last few seasons at all levels and very rarely you will see a good one.

just hope they over turn it, and hope we can atleast have the likes of bish on the bench on sunday as i think we will need him against the scum.

I would love to see the decision over turned but with our luck in such as these it will probably be up held by the powers that be. With only one angle available on this we can only speculate over what happened think that a lot of decision need looking at but as has already been mentioned the refs are only human just like the rest of us
