Ben Morris was on target twice but Town’s U23s were beaten 3-2 by Sheffield United at Stocksbridge Park Steels’ Bracken Moor Stadium in their opening Professional Development League Two South fixture of the season.

England U19 international Morris gave the Blues the lead but Reece York levelled within a minute.

David Parkhouse put the Blades in front on 33, then after the break Simeon Oure added to their lead before Morris netted his second of the afternoon in the 83rd minute but Town, who included Andre Dozzell, were unable to grab an equaliser.

U23s: Wright, Crowe, Clements, Cotter, Ndaba, McKendry, Dozzell, McLoughlin, Morris, Lankester, Folami. Subs: Ware, Marshall, McGavin, Brown.

He looked very promising when he came on against Blackburn and scores for fun at U23 level. Could be another one that we may look to loan out to further develop. I'm sure he wouldn't be short of offers from L1 or L2 if we do.

therein61 added 18:30 - Aug 13 Morris for me is a must on the bench he has shown predatory instinct and is not afraid to put himself in and amongst bodies in the box I feel he is better here and in the squad rather than out on loan

PositivelyPortman added 20:23 - Aug 13 Vancouver- did you read what PH said about Dozzell over the weekend? He rates him very highly and is desperate not to overplay him whilst he's still struggling for full fitness. Also, he said that he wasn't overly keen on the thought of him going out on loan.
