Hurst Not Expecting More Signings Today But One Further Deal Still Possible
Thursday, 9th Aug 2018 15:44

Boss Paul Hurst said he wasn’t expecting any further additions at his pre-match press conference, however, TWTD understands it is possible that Town could add one more player to the squad before the 5pm deadline.

“I don’t think so, I certainly don’t expect anything,” Hurst said when asked whether there might be any more signings today.

“It’s not the weather for people to be stood out in the rain waiting for signings to come in, so I don’t think we’ll have any of that.

“But I’m pleased with what we have done. I think last week I said I’d probably done more business than I envisaged doing and with three signings this week to add to that, there have been quite a few changes.

“From my point of view, that needed to happen, we needed to freshen things up. That’s not a slight on the players that were here. It’s to add to the mix, get a bit of a new feel in, hopefully a little bit of a buzz.

“There are a couple of deals that we’ve missed out on and I still think we’ll have to look into the loan market for one or two more players between now and September. But overall, as I said, I think it’s been a really productive time for us.”

The identity of the potential 10th signing of the summer is as yet unknown.

Hopefully a defender! I'd love Windass, but we all know defence is the area we need right now. Also, if Woolfenden is potentially out for 6 weeks, then we definitely need one. COYB!

Also, where in that speech does it imply there could be one more?

Interesting. Almost certainly has to be another centre back incoming, what with Woolfy being injured for the next 6 weeks? I wonder if we're having one last go for Curtis Tilt.

All I got from that interview is that we are done for the day !

I'd love one last go at Tilt but I think he will come in January for a lot lot less than £850k

The Manager/owner has done well in the transfer window - better than I thought likely.

Selling injury-prone Webster at a profit was sensible. If Waggy wanted to go.....well we got a reasonable price for him, Who knows how he may do this season?

The sigings have added solidness to the defence, strengthened the midfield and provided pace and creativity to the attack.

Don't expect miracles, but I believe we'll be a real force in the new Year.

I like this new look squad but we must all be patient. They will take time to settle and for PH to find his best 11. I expect a few defeats but hopefully in entertaining games. PH will learn as much about his squad through defeats as through winning and gradually we will hopefully get more wins than losses. It's going to be a roller coaster ride for a while.

Marcus Evans has certainly kept to his word of players in. Can't recall in recent history so many new players. If we can get a CB in before the close today then great, if not a loan of Carter Vickers again would be ideal. Well done ME and PH. COYB

He doesntappear he was prepared to offer an extra 150k for Tilt when we have a net gain of millions in the bank from the sales. That ridiculous interview went a long way...
