Loan Target Bogle Set to Join Birmingham
Monday, 6th Aug 2018 11:16

Blues target Omar Bogle looks set to join Birmingham City on loan from Cardiff.

Town were eyeing a move for the 25-year-old, who played for Paul Hurst at Grimsby, in the wake of Accrington Stanley slapping a £2.5 million price tag on Kayden Jackson’s head.

Now, Birmingham Live is reporting that Birmingham are closing in on a deal to loan Bogle, who is from nearby Sandwell and with previously with the club as a youngster.

The Blues are understood to have continued negotiations with Accrington regarding Jackson but if they’re unable to come to an agreement with the League One club will have to look elsewhere for a striker to replace the imminently departing Martyn Waghorn, who is set to complete his £5 million rising to £7.5 million move to Derby today.

Bit of a gamble but surely we need to buy, not loan for such a key role in the side.....and presumably will need to be better than Harrison, who himself looks decent.

Not unhappy about this. He's struggled so far at a higher level. This sounds like a second or even third-choice signing made on the basis we desperately need a striker and Hurst worked with him at Grimsby.
I appreciate Hurst is keen on his former players but they must have the pedigree or potential to at least perform in the top half of the Championship.

Much better to get a permanent signing , rather than a loan . Need to move fast now , for at least 1 forward , but don't be held to ransom to pay Accrington's inflated price .

No great loss.We need to bring in an experienced solid championship striker with a bit of knowhow to complement our many youngsters.(Hugill ?? )

Hasn't done anything at League One or Championship level so not too disappointed we're not signing him. Plenty of other players who will be available as good as him if not better. I still expect us to sign Kayden Jackson as well.

I thought we said that we would have to get a striker in the door before we let waghorn leave? Let's hope we have other targets, although Ben Morris looked very capable off the bench on Saturday!

I'd be interested at who the gaffer comes up with to replace Waghorn if we can't get Jackson, I reckon someone a bit Bulky and tricky...just like mr Waghorn, but I can't think of anyone like
That who springs to mind, any suggestions?

Maybe we could get Chris Martin on a season long loan as part of the waghorn deal?

Bradshaw, Bradshaw, Bradshaw! Get him in ffs.. scored enough to be classed as proven for a relegated side... a.m. all for taking punts on lower league but it has to be balanced with experience...

Not bothered about Bogle. Maybe we have a deal with a new striker already. Would like to see Tom Bradshaw. Or maybe we can get David Nugent as part of a Derby-deal.

If we're getting £5m to £8m for Waghorn then we should be buying a permanent replacement, not relying on more loanees.

It says something about the current climate of the club when we cant compete with Birmingham who are under strict restrictions following the lifitng of the transfer embargo. stick to league 1 dross hursty!!
