Town Meet Shrews' Valuation for Nsiala and Nolan as Signings Get Closer
Saturday, 4th Aug 2018 20:03

Shrewsbury chief executive Brian Caldwell has revealed that the Blues have met his club’s valuation of central defender Toto Nsiala and midfielder Jon Nolan and expects the deals to be confirmed in the next 48 hours.

Speaking to BBC Radio Shropshire, Caldwell says the initial fees have been agreed but discussions still ongoing regarding sell-on clauses.

“From the Nolan and Nsiala point of view, I’ll be honest, they have come back in and more or less met our valuation, I’ve stuck strong to that.

“I think I’ve made it clear that there was no compromising with my valuation. Where we’re at just now is that they’ve tried to put in a lower sell-on, which I’m not happy with because you just look at the players that we’re had and I think, to be fair to us as well, we want the valuation and we also want the sell-on at the right percentage.

“So that’s where it’s at just now, I would imagine that will probably bottom out over the next 48 hours and hopefully we can get a conclusion to it from everybody’s point of view.”

The duo were both left out of the Shrews side today having been barred from training after handing in transfer requests following Town's rebuffed joint-bid earlier in the week.

Speaking at his post-match press conference Blues manager Paul Hurst said Town were getting closer on some of their targets: “I think some are kind of edging more in our favour."

More mates of dubious quality . It is about time we signed some players of decent quality and relevant experience .

yes meekreech, we saw today that League 1 players such as Edwards are dubious quality, he was a right old duffer. If only you were the manager.

Great news well done Town. Does this mean the Tilt deal is off now?

Not negative about these two, good signings, very happy about this. I've never knocked PH, only ME. And I knock ME and his lack of funding in comparison to our rivals because I support ITFC...

We need Tilt too. If we sell Waggy we can afford 1m and he's worth that...

Makes you wonder if Hurst/Evans had this planned for sometime at the expense of Waghorn leaving...

I think Nolan is the type of player we have been missing for a long long time !
We need Tilt as well though !

Potentially another 2 pieces of the puzzle.. if Waghorn's fee is near what it should be then there will be cash left for Tilt and a striker on top of the Shrewsbury guys. Bradshaw or Stockley would fit the mould.

Refreshing to see younger and hungrier recruits though. Dare I sense optimism for the first time in years ?

Today should be about positives and this news with the two Shrews lads hopefully about to sign is just that a positive.

Meekreech, we have to look for young talent at this point because of our budgets, as far as I'm aware, Hurst knows these players are championship quality, Edwards looked class, mate. As far as I'm aware, loaning Tayo Edun is already bringing in quality. We don't need experienced players to do well.

I know it's a very unlikely scenario but just imagine if Hurst got in all the players he is after and we got to keep Waghorn and Garner!

come on ,GET THIS DONE, sooner Hurst has his squad assembled the better, they can then start gelling and knowing each others strengths and weaknesses.

I'm feeling rather positive right now. Really enjoyed the hard work of the lads today. Ellis desperately needed a creative '10' behind him and either Nolan Dozzell Bishop or Huws could fit that bill. Excites me that.

Evans needs to get this business done before someone else comes in and stuffs everything up. Why does it take 48 hours?????

Today was blatantly obvious we need someone to fill the gap behind the striker - thought Dozzell could've played there but Nolan seems ideal.

Still gutted about the Waghorn situation though - we should've stood firm and built the attack around him this season.

gfh. Whencwill you and others realise that waghorn is being sold because he wants to leave? Other than actually saying so hurstchas made it quite clear that thats how it is. Garner also wants to move back up north and so will go. Dont know about anyone else but i dont want players here who dont wanna be here.

TimmyH added 22:57 - Aug 4
Agreed! Waghorn should have been the kingpin which the attack was built around...shame.

If Hurst wants these players then he must feel they are good enough and it thats his plan then I really hope it works out.

But lets be honest. 75% of the fans on here who are saying get these players in because they are great are really talking rubbish, because at least (probably higher %) 75% have never ever seen these guys play!!
