Dyer Relishing Challenge of U18s Coaching Role
Thursday, 2nd Aug 2018 11:31

Kieron Dyer says stepping up to his new role coaching the U18s is a great opportunity for him to progress and that he is relishing the challenge.

Dyer, 39, has taken over as the full-time U18s assistant manager working with Adem Atay, the pair having been in charge of the U16s last season.

“I’m enjoying being involved in the development of the young players here,” former England international Dyer told the club site.

“I’ve worked with the U16s where it is all about improving as a player more than worrying about results, but at U18 level there is still that element but you are looking at the competitive side as well.

“I’m here to help the boys. I’ve been where they are. I can relate to them and hopefully I can take what I have gained during my career and pass that on to the academy players here.

"It’s a great opportunity for me to progress as a coach as well and I’m relishing the challenge.”

its Fantastic that one of our own is coaching back at his club. A smashing bloke with great admiration for tradition . He will without doubt be in the dugout one day with the 1st team .
Good luck Kieron

Lets hope he doesnt put his back out whilst putting down the cones! Only joking, great to see one of our own at the club coaching. Will be having an interest in how he develops as a coach and hopefully see him in charge of the first team one day

Having read his book (and given his views on the subject), I wonder whether he encourages the U18s to get an agent?!

It's fantastic to see him so enthusiastic not only about coaching but about the club. One of our own indeed.
