Chalobah and Morris Could Win Caps as England U19s Face France
Monday, 23rd Jul 2018 10:52

Blues loanee Trevoh Chalobah and striker Ben Morris could add to their England U19s caps this afternoon when the Young Lions complete their group games against France in Vaasa, Finland (Sky Sports Football from 4.25pm).

Central defender or midfielder Chalobah, who joined Town on a season-long loan from Chelsea at the start of the month, is again expected to skipper the side, as he did in the 3-2 defeat of Turkey and the 1-1 draw with Ukraine.

Chalobah was a member of the England squad which won the competition in Georgia last summer and has now won 22 U19s caps, scoring one goal.

Morris made his U19s debut as a late sub against Ukraine, having previously played for the England U17s and U18s, and again appears likely to be on the bench this evening.

England need only a draw to secure a place in the semi-finals and also qualify for next year’s U20 World Cup in Poland.

Andre Dozzell was also a key man in the side which won the Euros last summer but has remained behind this year as he continues his return from injury.

Fellow midfielders Tristan Nydam and Flynn Downes also won U19s caps last season but Town were unwilling to release the duo for the competition, preferring that they remain in Suffolk for pre-season.

Meanwhile, Blues youngster Pat Webber played for Dagenham and Redbridge in their 3-1 pre-season friendly win at Bishop’s Stortford on Saturday with a view to moving to the Vanarama National League Daggers on loan.

However, we understand that the 19-year-old is now back with the Blues and won’t be joining the Essex club.

Very high quality game, France are awesome but Chalobah is far from out of his depth, I really like him.
