Norwich Winger Linked With Blues, Wigan and Bolton
Wednesday, 18th Jul 2018 12:05

Town, Wigan Athletic and Bolton Wanderers are reported to be keen on out-of-favour Norwich City winger Yanic Wildschut.

According to HITC Sport, the Canaries are prepared to accept offers for the 26-year-old Dutchman, who was on loan at Cardiff from January until May but made only three appearances for the Bluebirds, who are not pursuing their interest.

Having previously been with FC Zwolle, VVV-Venlo, Heerenveen, ADO Den Haag (loan) and Middlesbrough, Wildschut joined Norwich from Wigan for a fee in the region of £7 million in January 2017, but has failed to win a regular place in the team at Carrow Road.

Town boss Paul Hurst said early in the summer that he wanted to add wingers to his squad but having signed Jordan Roberts and Gwion Edwards may not be after further widemen, while signing a player from Norwich always proves controversial with fans.

Elsewhere, Blues target Curtis Tilt is again being linked with Rangers. The Blackpool central defender is reported to have been watched by the Glasgow club in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Burnley.

I have no issues with an ex budgie. Anyway he's Dutch and we haven't done bad going Dutch before have we? Muhren, Thyssen, Zondervan, Ruesser etc.

No thanks: any one suggesting a deal with that lot clearly is too young or too old to remember the Ian Crooke incident, or Andy Marshall for that matter. Once a scummer always a scummer!

agentp - your logic fails when you think a wage can be slashed by 10k if there's a transfer fee involved.

Paulc - you have to remember most players don't actually care about rivalries. As far as the board goes it's just business. The issue is with fans. With Cooke he was talked around by Nodge fans not to move. However he would probably have had the same problem with Marshall that they were both too associated with them to ever be accepted as a Town player. When it's a player they have signed who hasn't really settled then it's a bit different and the thought of bringing one over who can fill them with regrets is a win - I'm sure their fans are thinking that with Jordan Rhodes.

Marcus. Trust me. I know how transfer fees work. Can actually be slashed by more than that (depending on the blocks of the salary) and you can see one of my examples has already estimated that; admittedly my figures are simplified.

Don't forget RF's BTW. They would make a difference in a situation like this ;-)

@whosroundisitanyway thanks for been concerned for my opinon. There is absolutley no chance we would be able to sign Wilschut, he needs to stay at Norwich where he will be in with a promotion push (as much as i hate to say it) even Bolton and Wigan are more ambitous than us so would be better options for him. Its the same situation as Rooney at DC United he is a class above every player there and Wilschut would be the same so wouldnt be able to see his full potential. could turn him into a full back though

Watched him for two years at my Dutch Club (VVV). Please don't spend to much on him. All (~ 15%) of nothing (~85%) player. I saw that first half in last years derby as well where he raped Spence and yes he riped Chambers up in the Wigan away game the year before but a broken clock is right two a day as well.

My first visit to Carrot Road on Monday for my daughters graduation what a complete S*** hole it is, seats are so close its like being a sardine, what surprised me most was how small it was thought it was a big club big ground. Even my wife a SAFC fan said how cr*p it was made me laugh. Think this is just paper talk as PH has mentioned wingers and Narwich want to get rid of this guy. You never know never stop believing

I guess you haven't tried many seating positions at Portman Road then? We do have some pretty terrible close seating. But it does vary - upper tier as far as I'm aware are the more spacious seats.

If they have offer from anyone else then why make us (matter of opinion......) stronger?

Will be amazed if any substance to this.

Would be nice to get a Dutchman in the team again.

Agent P.....

1 million is well below what they paid 18 months ago. A 6 million hit? Seems unlikely.

Also id say your sums are missing a couple of signing on fees and a slice of agents pie

Call me old fashioned but wher has the rivalry gone......wouldn't touch any of those budgies with a barge pole ...tainted goods ....am old enough to remember the embarrassment of Ian Crook saga ....never again,, and that was with a player they wanted,.,how embarrassing that we now hover round for their cast offs........COYB .....Ipswich and proud .......yellow and green should never be seen !!

Cornishblu it can work the other way too. I remember Peter Morris going to Narwich and also Jonny Miller and how sick we were when Jonny came back to Portman Road in a budgie team and scored against us. How sick were Narwick fans when Joe Royle produced such great football here as our manager?

I'd rather we concentrated on two CB's

I don't really care about the Norwich connection; he's a good player and would fit the bill for what Hurst is looking for. However I can't see us meeting their valuation unless they are looking to quickly offload Wildschut for a bargain price. Even if they were I can't seem them doing us any favours.
