Town Fan Publishes First Novel Tuesday, 17th Jul 2018 09:41 Town fan and TWTD poster Ian Galloway has published his first novel, The Drowners, a tale about revenge. “Set over a three-week period, it is an account of how lives are consumed, twisted and ultimately destroyed by hatred and the desire for retaliation,” Galloway, 46, told TWTD. “It is also the tale of how from seemingly impossible odds people can overcome all obstacles in their path to achieve their dreams. “By turns shocking, poignant and laugh-out-loud funny, The Drowners could be The Count of Monte Cristo if he had been brought up on cheap drugs and alcohol in 1980s Britain.” Galloway, a lifelong Blues supporter among those to travel to Moscow in the UEFA Cup in 2001/02, says the book has received a favourable response and flattering comparisons. “A couple of reviewers have compared it to Iain Banks and Irvine Welsh, which I was very happy with,” he added. “It has several, albeit subtle, Town references and all the heroes in my books sport names after a prominent Town player, this one being Mike Burley. “I am a full-time writer, splitting my time between fiction (I've ghost-written several books, my name always made up of two Town legends) and sports-writing. “I am currently living in Singapore, so matchday now sees me sat on my balcony at 11pm watching it on iFollow. I get home for a couple of games a season and when at Portman Road I still sit in the Upper North.” You can buy The Drowners here.
