Blanchfield Joins Daggers
Thursday, 5th Jul 2018 15:24

Released Blues midfielder James Blanchfield has joined Vanarama National League Dagenham and Redbridge on a one-year deal.

The 20-year-old left Town at the end of last season having been unable to break into the first team after joining the academy from Arsenal in 2014.

A brief spell on loan at Aldershot after Christmas last year was curtailed by a knock, the midfielder having made only one sub appearance for the Shots.

“I have been having talks for the past couple of weeks and to finally get everything done I am over the moon and can’t wait to get started and show the fans and the manager what I am capable of,” the Southend-born schemer told the Daggers official site.

“When the opportunity first came up, my dad told me what a great manager Peter [Taylor] is and how lucky I am to get the opportunity to play under him, so I can’t wait to start learning from him."

This lad has been very unfortunate with injury and I wish him all the best with the Daggers, during his sidelined spells he was very much overtaken by Downes and Nydam. Therefore, really no room for him at Portman Road, however, if he can prove that he can remain trouble free from injury going forward I think he will resurface and do well in League 2 or 1. Must admit I was surprised to see that Peter Taylor had slipped down to the Vanarama, came very close to being Roy Keane assistant at Town.
