Knudsen Unused Sub in Denmark's Final Friendly
Saturday, 9th Jun 2018 21:11

Blues defender Jonas Knudsen was an unused sub as Denmark beat Mexico 2-0 at the Brøndby Stadion in their last friendly prior to travelling to Russia for the World Cup finals.

The three-times-capped 25-year-old’s preferred left-back role was occupied by Udinese's Jens Stryger Larsen, who despite primarily being right-sided is the first-choice in that position going into the finals.

Denmark’s first group game is against Peru in Saransk next Saturday evening with Australia and France their other opponents.

The fact he played 90 minutes 3 games ago but hasn't even made it onto the field in the last 2 friendlies suggests to me (barring an injury to Stryger Larsen) he probably will not play at the World Cup sadly. And if he does it will be 15 mins here or there, or if Denmark are already qualified after 2 games and are resting players for their final game.

Hope he enjoys the experience though and improves training against the likes of Eriksen.

Come on! Denmark are no mugs. He's done very well to get into the squad. Nobody expects him to be in the starting line-up.

OK, everyone, let's try this for a change...

Well done, Jonas!–it so wonderful that you're representing our club at the World Cup. We're proud of you! Have a great time, learn lots, and come back inspired in August!

Better? :-)
