Woolfenden Nets First Senior Goal Tuesday, 20th Feb 2018 23:53 On-loan Blues defender Luke Woolfenden netted his first senior goal as Bromley drew 1-1 at Aldershot in the Vanarama National League this evening. The 19-year-old, who has been playing at right-back, put the Ravens ahead in the 24th minute from close range. However, the Shots, who featured former Blues Adam McDonnell and George Fowler in their line-up, equalised via Emmanuel Oyeleke in injury time. Woolfenden has now made 10 starts for Bromley, who are eighth in the National League, since joining them shortly before Christmas. Speaking earlier this afternoon, Town manager Mick McCarthy said that while he could recall Woolfenden from Bromley in the remaining months of the season, with his loan currently being extended month by month, he’s keen not to upset the applecart as the Ravens chase promotion. “It would be nice for him to come back and play for us but we’ve let him go out on loan to get some experience and I wouldn’t want to destroy Bromley by taking him back,” he said.
“And if he’s got a chance in being in that team that gets promoted, I think that will do him good as well because it’s a tough old league and he’s going to be a better player from coming back. “I’m not going to be putting out that I’m [bringing him back], I’m not going to affect their chances by doing it. That’s not in my thoughts.”
