McKendry and Webber Join Braintree on Loan
Friday, 2nd Feb 2018 14:40

Young Blues duo Conor McKendry and Pat Webber have joined Vanarama National League South side Braintree Town on a month's loan.

Northern Ireland U21 call-up McKendry has been in fine form for the U23s and hit four goals in the 6-0 home victory over Coventry in December.

The 19-year-old winger is yet to make a senior appearance for the Blues but has been on the bench for the first team, while defender Webber, 18, made his full debut in the Carabao Cup tie at Crystal Palace in August.

As with previous loans to National League clubs, if their initial spells progress well, they are likely to be extended on a month by month basis.

Excited by the prospect of Mckendry to be honest, seems quite creative and knows where the back of the net is. Hope he gets chance in the first team

What a player McKendry is by the way. Seen him on multiple occasions and sold out like a sore thumb on every single occassion. A real real star in the making.

Yep, clear out all the youngsters to make plenty of room for more ageing journeymen : I believe this is explicitly stated in the Evans Group 5-point plan.

Dobra looks an outstanding prospect as well, along with Ben Knight. These players will be pushing for first team football. Love Dobra's chipped passes; reminds me of Steve Fulton in the Hearts side in the late 90's when they nearly won the Scottish Premiership. Unusual skill which he does superbly. Hopefully McKendry, Dobra and Knight will be like having new signings next season.

Don't hold your breathe as long as MM is in charge he won't be picking youth ahead of his "real men". There's nothing to be gained sending them to Braintree where the style will be completely different to where we want our future stars to be. Both these two should be on the bench and given 10/15 mins, that's the way to bring them on.
At 19 Mckendry should be ready to step up, there's lots of examples in other teams in our league!
