I don't think McGoldrick has any intention of staying anyway. He wants to go back to the Midlands area where his family still live so why wait until the summer? We're not going up so makes sense to cash in if we can. It'll take a big money signing in the summer to replace his quality (when fit) though.

Think its time McGoldrick had left anyway. Obviously a talented player, but has only ever done it at his best consistently for 1 season, equating to around 25% of his time at ITFC, them numbers are actually awful. High wage earner, talented player, far too inconsistent to be playing ahead of waghorn, and almost useless Right Midfield. Enjoyed watching him at times, but spent more time pulling my hair out.

Hardly the impact player you would fork out £500k for when you'll get him free in 12 weeks time. And that is why he is not worth keeping.

Why would McG sign for a club now, when he can wait 12 weeks and get a hefty signing on fee?

Thing is, Didsy has made it clear he is not intending to stay. He wants t9mretrun t9 midlands. Fair enough. No problem with that.

But, given that McCarthy continues to play him wide ( as he has done with Sears since he's been manager here, and look at the effect that's had on his game), and Didsy is clearly not interested in playing wide. WHY are we contiu8ng to pla6 a disinterested player who is leaving us when we have Drinan and others who could be given game time , and God forbid, a fresh impetus in the side??

David McGoldrick is an attacking central midfielder, if we used him there with skuse we would be a much better team, he would get the ball move forward and put strikers through/ in on goal. He is not a striker does not score anough goals never has. But I agree with most time to move on probably our biggest earner and get at least a little bit of money, not much mind. Even if we sell him we will not be bringing in a replacement Evans will just see it as money saved that's all.

I am so worried that MM will be offered a new deal, however I live in hope that MM does not want to be here anymore and has something lined up with another club.

Bruce see's him as a Number 10 - so do I. Play him there not out wide! He doesnt have the pace for wide but he does have the skills and brain as a quality number 10. When we are free scoring MacG is at the heart.

If the club haven glimmer of getting into the top 6 we need him at his best and not sold in Jan. Likewise it would be Criminal to let him walk at the end of the season, which looks very likely. A la, Leadbitter, Norris, McCauley, Delaney, who else?

Warky's tash - you can't force a player to sign another contract ... he is only contracted til the end of the season and is then totally free to leave ... but yes, it WOULD be good to see him playing at his best til then. Unfortunately, playing out wide we will never see him at his best !

In the hole attacker. He'll go to a Midlands club, be played there, injury free season , assist and bang in loads.

At present we are not good enough to compete for a top 6 spot "our goal " as stated by MM at start of season so what are we doing about strengthening the squad like other teams are ?
All we hear is about Bart not leaving or Dids not leaving who is arriving to push us up the league ?
So far we have signed a defender who is not better than the first choices and debatable if he is better than what we have let go in Smith and an average midfielder who will play a handful of games before being released in the summer .

I would imagine McGoldrick would rather leave now while he's still fit! If he doesn't leave now then he'll be playing very tepidly and will not be up for it until the end of the season - he knows how injury prone he is. Last thing he wants to do is get injured and then have no club to pay or look after him. I'd just let him leave on a free now to free up wages.

Not just about the Didsy situation but the whole ethos surrounding this club.

Never receive any money from the cups,and don't tell me that it is an unfortunate coincidence that in the McCarthy era we have never progressed at all in either of these competitions.I mention this having seen the draw yesterday.

To make matters worse we have an owner who seems to be currently preparing the club for League 1 football.Probably not this year but if the current spending drought continues then the lowest league position achieved last season by Mighty Mick for 50 years will be passed if the current malaise continues for much longer.

Mick McCarthy,or should this be Evans,has amassed over £19m by selling players in the last 5 years whilst spending just over £4m;and please don't give me Milnes old chestnut that its all gone into running the club;and how his boss puts in £6m a year.+
During the last really exciting period George went out exactly 18years ago and spent over £2m on Marcus Stewart to assist our play off push.
Now in this window Evans has spent less than a twentieth of that on Drinan despite receiving £750k for Moore.
Jim Magilton was allowed to spend just under £7 1/2 m whilst bringing in just over £5 1/2 m.
Roy Keane just over £9 1/2m receiving just under £5m from sales and,
Paul Jewell just under £5m whilst making over £9 1/2m.

The amount currently being spent by Evans in transfer fees is ridiculous.In the clubs financial year ended June 2014 it was a mere £20,000(lowest since 1983)and the following year wasn't much better at £110,00.It has been more since,although certainly not enough to sustain a promotion push.

With the attendances continuing to fall,Portman Road had under 16k for the visit of the potential champions last Saturday;and with no atmosphere,I fear for the future of this club more than I have in over half a century.

Not sure McGoldrick is going to interest the big teams in this division. Not unless they want a technically excellent player that cannot elevate himself above walking pace.

Let the clear out begin, not much point bringing in new additions until the fate of our manager is confirmed. I'm hoping that with mid table beckoning, the youths are given ample chance to proof what they are all about, cause this is our best chance of achieving something in the next few seasons. Not sure where all this top 6 talk is coming from, maybe the 4 straight wins on the bounce at the start of the season has set expectation levels a tad to high. We have to accept as fans we will always be the last to know anything. ME has recouped a lot of his wasted investment, so I would expect this summer to be a turning point and some of his hard earned ‘bangers' are made available for new additions from management to players. We live in hope.

Agree with those saying he is lethargic at times, but my god, how does a manager with one week's experience decide to player with his skill set wide.....and then tell the defence to hoof balls to him which he can never win in the air. I get demoralised watching. Can only imagine how Didz feels with the talent he has being asked to turn into the salmon he is never going to be.

Like Sears, he should have left by now. Not because they letting us down, but because they are better players than they are allowed to be by being played out of position every time, it's killing their confidence and value at the same time.

I think Muccletonjoe nailed it , Dids don't want to stay, isn't setting the league alight,prone to injuries ,can be be good on his day, but I think he has peaked, why spend out to get him ,hang on get him for nowt and count blessings if he produces the good . Sorry Itfc , BUT that's how it is .
