Adeyemi Returns to Action as Strong U23s Side Faces Millwall
Monday, 29th Jan 2018 11:42

Tom Adeyemi, Adam Webster, Luke Hyam, Grant Ward and Freddie Sears are all set to play for the Blues’ U23s when they face Millwall at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Adeyemi will be playing his first game having been out since October with hamstring and then calf injuries, while Webster, on the bench but unused during Saturday's 1-0 defeat to Wolves, is back after an achilles problem.

Ward, who came on as a late sub on Saturday, has just returned from a groin injury and Hyam is continuing his comeback from his lengthy spell out following a knee operation.

Having been unbeaten since mid-October, Gerard Nash’s side lost both last week’s Premier League Cup matches, 2-0 at home to Sheffield United last Monday and 2-1 at West Brom on Thursday.

The U23s are currently third in the Professional Development League Two South table.

U23s: Perntreou, McLoughlin, Kenlock, Hyam, Webster, Goteni, Morris, Ward, Drinan, Adeyemi, Sears. Subs: Webber, Wright, Folami, Downes, McKendry.

Millwall: Sandford, McNamara, Tiensia, Hanson, Debrah, Chesmain, Olaofe, Saunders-Henry, Brymora, Philpot, Sinclair. Subs: Duncan, Jackson, West, Skeffington, Alexander.

Adeyami needs to get a run of games in between now and the end of the season. He offers us something different an CM but needs to last more than 3 games before getting injured.

Imagine a midfield of Huws Adeyami and Dozzell next season...

Agree with that Blueginger, but we seem to have to imagine these combinations every year as we can never seem to be able to field anywhere near our strongest squads over the last 4 years

Good news re our midfield. Presumably they will need to slowly work their way back to match fitness, and then be re-connected with the first time with time on the bench.
Whereas Skusee appears to still be out but will no doubt come straight back into the first team regardless of whomever else is fit at the time.

Anyone want to give that comment a thumbs down then go ahead.....but you know am right.....and yes even this positive news is turned around to be about the manager and Club as right now their future is the most important pending decision our Club has faced since taking MEs money......and they are telling us nothing and in Mick's case, revelling in it.

I will be interested to see the centre half pairing when Webster is back. Will Carter-Vickers get dropped? You would assume so as it won't be Chambers surely? But CCV came here to play so that won't please Spurs much. Hmmmm.

How many over age players are allowed in the team? Surely Adeami, Sears and Hyam are over the age?

Mick won't drop his proper bloke ‘Chambo' so Carter Vickers will be dropped. That is unless Webster gets cashed in on.

Good to see him back. Thought he stood out first half in the Norwich game and seemed to boss the midfield. Hope he can get some regular 1st team time in the not too distant future as we could do with a boost from somewhere or other.

I have watched a few of these games and always think u have to stand out to have a chance for the first team but anyone very rarely seem to ( like Webster today for example)
If it a striker for instance you should surely be scoring for fun to get a chance in first team?
On another note how come out training is supposed to be so intense but as soon as they play a game even at this level like adeyami they can't last a game?

maybe we should only pay the crocks a certain wage rather than them bleeding the club dry and never contributing, i think we know who they are ...or else move them on asap lets face it if we didnt ever go to work we wouldnt still get the massive rewards they do
