Baltacha on Life's a Pitch
Friday, 19th Jan 2018 22:00

There’s a chance to hear from former Blue Sergei Baltacha on Life’s a Pitch, which is live on BBC Radio Suffolk at lunchtime on Saturday with host Mark Murphy joined by legend-in-residence Kevin Beattie, New Tractorboy and TWTD’s Phil Ham, who will be at the Macron Stadium ahead of the game against Bolton Wanderers (12-2pm).

Baltacha, the first player from the Soviet Union to play in the Football League when he joined Town in 1988, spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live earlier in the week.

Can Town grab a second win on the trot at Bolton? What do make to the two new signings? Give your thoughts on those questions or anything else via email, Mark’s Twitter or during the show by phone on 01473 212121 or text to 81333 starting your message with SFK.

The show can be heard on 95.5FM, 95.9FM, 103.9FM and 104.6FM, and also now on DAB, or online via a widget on this page by clicking here.

I remember being in the family enclosure in front of the boxes as a kid with my dad on Baltacha's debut seeing all the Soviet flags around the ground.
If I remember correctly it was against Stoke City with Mick Mills as their manager.
0-0 at half time, Sergei got the opener and we won 5-1
Remember the buzz and excitement of the North stand creating an electrifying atmosphere.

And my dad moaning because it cost him a fiver for us both to go and I wanted a pound for an Ipswich flag 😂
