McCarthy: Rowe Can Go Out on Loan in January
Tuesday, 21st Nov 2017 15:09

Town boss Mick McCarthy says winger Danny Rowe will be allowed to move out on loan during the transfer window in order to play first-team games and should use Kieffer Moore, who is currently enjoying a highly successful spell at Rotherham, as his role model.

Rowe, 25, who was signed from Vanarama National League Macclesfield in January, has made two Championship sub appearances this season in addition to his one start in the Carabao Cup tie at Crystal Palace.

Overall, the former Stockport County and Barrow wideman, who is currently sidelined with a minor knock, has made three starts and four sub appearances for the Blues in all competitions.

Moore has scored 13 goals in 17 league starts and one sub appearance for the Millers and is the top scorer in the top four divisions in England. McCarthy has said he will curtail the striker's loan and call him back to Portman Road in January.

“Danny needs to go and play games, a bit like Kieffer,” McCarthy said. “He will be somebody who can go out on loan in the new year, in the window.

“He still has a future here, and I can say that with confidence bearing in mind Kieffer. I was probably sat here at the start of the season and said, ‘Yes, he’s still got a role to play at this club, he needs to go out and play games’.

“If he has the impact that Kieffer’s had at maybe a League One club or a League Two club, he’ll come back with far more confidence and he can contribute.”

Wonder how he'd do if he was given a game here.......

Still feel like Rowe could do a good job off the bench later in games

How about give him a chance and send skuse out permently. How he plays week in week out reguradless of how he performs is a joke. Midfield so one dimensional when he plays. Play mcgoldrick in the centre behind the front two and play a proper winger like Rowe.

Ahh more hatred towards Skuse. Out of interest do some people think every single player has to be an attacker? Skuse has been massively key for us and allowed attackers to push forward as they know they have cover in players like him.

Anyone who thinks that McGoldrick can do the job of Skuse, probably doesn't watch much football.

We've had the Oar and now the Rowe, just need to get the boat and maybe they'll starting swimming instead of sinking.

This is a shame, as Rowe certainly started to impress and appeared to know where the net was. Impossible to comment on this matter unless your in the know so to speak, maybe a victim of our front 4's success.

Rowe looked really keen and hungry in pre season, I for one think squad rotation needs to be employed a bit more. Its a long season!

I like the lad. Think he can unlock a defence given a chance

Mick has done him a favour really. He was never good enough for Championship level, but being offered on loan from ITFC he will secure a decent loan gig and I hope he excels elsewhere as Moore has done. Good luck to him.

He has pace to burn and could be a great impact player to bring on with 10 or 20 minutes to go with tired legs out on the pitch. He's only had a scattering of chances. However, if he did go out on loan and manage to do half as well as Moore has then he could figure for us more next season possiboly, perhaps a new manager would see something in him that Mick quite hasn't. I thought Rowe was going to break into the first team this season but it's not the first time I've been wrong on my calls is it! ;-) Although that call was made before we had Celina and while I'd love to see Rowe given a proper chance, given the choice of one or the other, I'd have to pick Celina this season.

And we could always send him out to Colchester on loan I guess, he might look like Ronaldo for them! ;-)

Just to be clear, Mick said Moore would be coming back unless we get a bonkers offer for him. He did not say he would be coming back in January.

So perhaps Rowe could join Rotherham too and forger a good partnership with Emmanuel down the right then both come back next season and force their way into the first team picture as both have shown great potential and attributes.
