Bishop on Target on U23s Return
Friday, 10th Nov 2017 14:04

Teddy Bishop made a goalscoring return to action as Town’s U23s drew 2-2 with Millwall at the Den this afternoon, Ben Morris netting a late equaliser for the young Blues.

Bishop, playing his first game since undergoing a groin operation in August, scored an earlier leveller for Gerard Nash’s side in the 33rd minute with a freekick from the edge of the box, Harry Donovan having put the Lions ahead on 20.

Kristian Brymora restored the home side’s lead in the 79th minute before Morris celebrated signing a new contract yesterday by scoring his third U23s goal of the season just before the whistle.

Midfielder Emyr Huws made his third appearance for the U23s as he continues his progress towards full fitness after his achilles injury, manager Mick McCarthy having said last week that he expected the Welshman to be involved in the squad which travels to Hull City next weekend.

U23s: M Crowe, D Crowe, Kenlock, Bishop, Woolfenden, Webber, Rowe, Huws Morris, Folami, McLoughlin. Subs: Clements, Ware McKendry, Daniels, Dobro.

I do hope they've both got over their injuries for now. It's a precarious business being a young professional and it must have been a nightmare time for young Bishop, in particular.
Bet he doesn't sleep tonight.

Did he bust his nuts though?

That's all that matters apparently...

Encouraging. A fully fit trio of Huws, Bishop & Adeyemi would really add substance to our midfield options. The unfortunate loss of Dozzell and Bishop to injury, plus the non-start signings of Huws & Adeyemi in the summer has really left us with a lack of quality in an area we had briefly looked like being quite strong. The emergence of Downes and Nydam being the silver lining in all of this.
Another apparent loss was Kundai Benyu to Celtic. Does anyone know what has happened with him? Did he get injured? Seemed to start off well & get a fair bit of game time, but haven't heard mention of him in months.

I bet there is a collective holding of breath to see if he rocks-up to work tomorrow fit.

Hope so. He's had to go throw the mill a few times.

Arnie M no he doesn't actually play now in Celtics first team. "frozen out and may well be loaned out in January".

It would be amazing to see Huws and Bish as the central midfield paring; assuming fully fit and firing. And, as suggested above, we could play 3 in there with Adeyemi adding extra mobility... but hang on, the current manager will not drop Skuse... so these are all just pipe dreams. Next year, perhaps?

It's worth having a look at the forum in re: Bishop

Is it time to stop kidding myself that he's going to get fit and play a key role in our side?

Unfortunately with Bishop's injuries, I'd be tempted to let bishop go, along with hyam. Pure and simply injured way to much, where they are at an age where they should be fully fit and controlling games.

concerning when they have been out for ages.
