Wednesday, 11th Oct 2017 10:22

Town’s U18s are in action against Thurlow Nunn League Premier Division Long Melford at their Stoneylands ground in the first round of the Omni Freight Suffolk Premier Cup this evening (KO 7.45pm).

The winners of the tie will face Hadleigh United away in the second round.

Last season the young Blues exited the competition at the quarter-final stage after being beaten 6-3 at Leiston.

The U18s, who are coached by Alan Lee, drew 2-2 at Charlton on Saturday, Jack Lankester (pictured) and Albert Wilton netting their goals.

I wonder if most of the various Suffolk Finals will be staged at Colchester again this season,as last.

Think only had one at Portman RD,whereas I think Col U staged about three.

Strange that the Essex Club were able to host these finals, whereas the Suffolk Premier Ground was unavailable. It certainly wasn't because the Club was likely to be in the play offs last season.

It was to do with the Elton John concert and work on the pitch, which needs more attention in the close season than Colchester's. The Suffolk FA were given dates on which finals could take place at Portman Road but they didn't work in part due to clashes with non-league play-off dates.
