Celina and Bru Win Caps
Monday, 9th Oct 2017 23:24

Bersant Celina and Kevin Bru added their international caps earlier this evening.

Celina played the full 90 minutes and won his eighth full cap as Kosovo were beaten 2-0 away by Iceland, who consequently confirmed their place in the World Cup finals for the first time.

Kosovo ended their first qualification campaign winless and bottom of their group having picked up only a single point.

Bru picked up his 12th cap as Mauritius were beaten 3-1 away by Equatorial Guinea in a friendly.

Elsewhere, the Republic of Ireland reached the World Cup play-offs after beating Wales 1-0 in their final qualifier and finishing second in their group.

Blues striker David McGoldrick was left out of the final squad for tonight's game but is likely to be in the running for place in the party ahead of November's two-legged play-off tie.

Ireland, whose assistant manager is former Town boss Roy Keane, will learn their opponents when the draw takes place on Tuesday 17th October.
