Brown on Way Out?
Brown on Way Out?

TWTD has learnt that Wayne Brown may be set for a summer move away from Portman Road after becoming frustrated with the lack of first team opportunities at Town over the last couple of years.

Since Town's promotion the defender has made four appearances as sub and just one start, in the FA Cup match with Dagenham and Redbridge in January.

He has enjoyed three loan spells with Division One sides, first with QPR in 2000/01, then Wimbledon and Watford last year.

Both the Dons and Gianluca Vialli's side were keen to take him permanently, but Wimbledon didn't have the cash and George Burley prevented a move to Vicarage Road, feeling he needed the 24-year-old as back-up during Town's run-in.

Watford might look the favourites to get his signature now, however the Hornets are not in a position to buy until they sell a number of transfer-listed internationals or the ITV Digital crisis is resolved.

Brown made his debut for Town at Middlesbrough in the 1997/98 season after previously making his league debut in a two game loan spell at Colchester.

He really made his name at Portman Road during the promotion season, making 30 appearances, either starting or as a substitute. Overall he has begun 26 games for Town and has been involved in another 11 from the bench, scoring no goals, despite notching four during last season's loan spells.
