Youngster Smith Joins Chelmsford on Loan
Thursday, 21st Sep 2017 22:22

Young Blues central defender Chris Smith has joined Vanarama National League South side Chelmsford City on a month’s loan.

Academy product Smith made his senior debut for the Blues as a late sub in the Carabao Cup defeat at Crystal Palace last month.

The 19-year-old, who spent time on trial at Bromley in pre-season, signed a one-year deal with an option for a further season in the summer of 2016 with the Blues taking up that option in May.

Former Kesgrave High School pupil Smith could make his Clarets debut at Poole Town at the weekend.

Best of luck Chris - a proper footballing central defender who IMO ought to have been further up the pecking order by now. Hopefully he will get a chance at Town once McCarthy has moved on

From what I've seen he looks to have a very bright future so hope this move helps. He's calm strong and always looks for a pass.

Missed a chance there Phil,
The headline could have been " Smith joins Chelmsford on Loan"
I reckon that would have had about 500 views

Good luck Chris. I've watched most of the 23s games this season and you've been a rock in the heart of defence. Keep progressing and we will see you in the 1st team in due course.

Couldn't agree more Carsey the lad will never progress under McCarthy because he plays too much football. If he hoofed it it would be a different story.
Good luck lad: hope it goes well for you you deserve some recognition.
