Chambers Back But Knudsen Misses Out
Saturday, 16th Sep 2017 14:19

Town return to a 3-5-2 system for this afternoon’s home game against table-propping Bolton Wanderers with skipper Luke Chambers returning after his ankle injury and midfielder Tom Adeyemi making his first start for the Blues but Jonas Knudsen misses out having picked up an injury in training.

Skipper Chambers will be joined in a back three by Jordan Spence and Dominic Iorfa with home debutant Callum Connolly at right wing-back and Myles Kenlock on the left. Bartosz Bialkowski is in goal.

Adeyemi is in central midfield with Cole Skuse and Grant Ward, while David McGoldrick joins Joe Garner up front.

Martyn Waghorn and Flynn Downes drop to the bench alongside Bersant Celina, who didn't train for several days this week due to a dead leg, Freddie Sears and Tristan Nydam, who is back after suffering a knock while away with the England U19s.

Town: Bialkowski, Spence, Chambers (c), Iorfa, Connolly, Skuse, Adeyemi, Ward, Kenlock, McGoldrick, Garner. Subs: Gerken, Waghorn, Celina, Sears, Downes, Nydam, Woolfenden.

Bolton: Alnwick, Little, Beevers, Karacan (c), Noone, Madine, Robinson, Cullen, Morais, Wheater, Burke. Subs: Howard, Taylor, Dervite, Le Fondre, Wilbraham, Armstrong, Pratley. Referee: Andy Madley (West Yorkshire).

How the feck do we pick up so many injuries in training, anything to do with you continually have to prove to Dino you are a "proper bloke"

and how the hell is Celina not in the team?
Still on the bright team looks to strong for Bolton

The only way that favourites ever miss out... through injury.

5 defenders at home to Bolton and Celina can seem to do anything to get a start!

It's really unfortunate that Knudsen is missing today, left side of a back 3 is arguably his best position & he would have provided balance in there. First game back for Chambers, with little football under his belt this season, so he'll be rusty enough early on in an unfamiliar grouping.
I like the idea of Connolly & Kenlock at wing backs though & looking forward to seeing Adeyemi playing the most part of a game at last.

Wish we had competition in that holding midfield position to put Skuse on his toes...week in week out he starts.
'Dead leg' has rather suited McCarthy this week in regards to Celina not starting, he's even admitted he wouldn't know where to fit him in if fit with McG, Sears, Waghorn and Garner up front and he's not the type of manager to play him in a 4-4-2 out wide so makes you wonder why we got him on loan?...too much quality to be stuck on the bench in the Championship.

Like the midfield 3 today minus Skusey. I'd have Downes in there instead!
Other than that not a bad team. Wouldn't under estimate Bolton tho they have a couple or 3 dangerous players in the side, Madine being one of them.
We should get 3 points today👍🏻

Very negative formation for a home game against a struggling Bolton side, should win this one though

Have we got enough defensive players starting today ffs?

What's the betting Sears comes on before Celina?

5 defenders and a holding mid at home to the worst team in the league ,,sums up MM completely. Hopefully win anyway and MM will be some wonder manager again

Hell would have to freeze over before he leaves Skuse out there are better options within the club than a player who cannot keep up with the demands of championship football.
