Chambers: I Should Be Ready to Return Against Bolton
Thursday, 14th Sep 2017 11:41

Town skipper Luke Chambers says he hopes to return to the team when the Blues face Bolton Wanderers at Portman Road on Saturday.

The 31-year-old suffered an ankle injury in the 4-3 win at Millwall and has been sidelined for the last three Championship matches at a time when fellow central defenders Tommy Smith (hamstring) and Adam Webster (ankle) have also been unavailable.

Chambers, who was the only Championship player to feature for every minute of all a club’s 46 games last season, will train with his team-mates today and believes he should be ready to face the bottom-of-the-table Trotters.

“I’m hoping to be involved at the weekend,” the former Northampton and Nottingham Forest man told the club site.

“I haven’t had many injuries in my career at all really so this one was frustrating, but I have been through all the rehab and it feels nothing compared to what I played through last year so it’s a strange one.""

“I’m feeling good and providing today and Friday’s training sessions go well, I genuinely feel I’m ready to play.”""

Meanwhile, Bolton will be without winger Will Buckley and central defender Derik Osede due to hamstring and groin injuries respectively.

Positive news. Chambers needed badly.

Great news! If he's fit enough to start I would play him alongside Knudsen so we have a left and right footed pairing. The Dane is pretty solid at CB from what I have read. Kenlock left back then Spence and Iorfa to fight it out for the right back spot. Looking forward to the game and I hope Mick goes all out and plays Celina and Ward out wide, with Adeyemi surging forward from CM. At the very least he has to start Celina. His dribbling and long range shooting ability will put teams on the back foot.

Great news! I know people moan about Chambers playing out of position and not being good enough but he is a passionate player and a great captain.

He played with broken ribs last year and never missed a game. The only player to do that in the whole of the Championship. We have definitely missed him for the last few games.

Let's hope for a fist pump on Saturday!

Great captain, great leadet. Leadership that no one else in the whole squad has. Isn't the best player but certainly a boost to have him back for his leadership

This news deserves one of these!

Great news, but I hope he only plays if he is 100% fit. We will need him at Leeds next Saturday, so I would rather him have one weeks extra rehab, than risk another spell out injured.

Corfu72: just need him in his correct position. Not out of the team.

It's easy for Chambers to say he'll be back in the team, but really - who would Mick drop??

Good stuff.

Really bluehert ? We on a losing run and conceding relatively easily. Changes should therefore be expected. Chambo starts.

Though i do think the bigger issue is in midfield where we are being overrun. If Adeyemi is now OK then he starts, but my other concern is Ward. He needs a boost of confidence or something as Mick does not like to drop him but he has been carried in past couple of games.

Thank f**k for that were getting a bit short of right-backs.

In all seriousness, get him in the centre of a back three, with Knudson & Spence, and lets start getting back to winning ways.

Spence, Chambers and Knudsen was a good back 3, with Iorfa and Kenlock on either side. Looking forward to his return.

Bart
3 centre backs Spence , Chambo , Knudsen
2 wing backs & central mid Connolly , Adyemi , Downes , Celina
Dids in the hole
Waghorn and Garner up top

All out attack against a team with no confidence more injuries than us who haven't won a game

It speaks volumes about our defensive quality when Captain Calamity is desperately needed back, you can't question his desire or passion but his pish poor in my 'honest' opinion, anyone who disagrees, please enlighten me????
Let's hope that the full sleeve is on show, bring on the fist pump!! (Lol)

Great news just hope we are not rushing him back too soon

Will be good to have him back but not at the risk of further injury - let's make sure he's fully fit before throwing him back in.

bluehert are you serious? Mick could have Sergio Ramos in the team and drop him to play Chambers, he's a proper bloke. Same as Skuse, only gets dropped when injured.

I'm not being negative it's a joke! We need Chambers back, he's not the best but he commands the team well and something needs to change to stop us conceding so many. Still gutted we didn't sign a decent cb in the window as backup

When will people realise we will only get the best out of Ward when he plays central. No chance of that.

Spot on Surco72, that would be my choice too. Not sure Mick will see it the same way but let's hope. I have a feeling that Skuse will be in.
I feel that Knudson has come on well this year after a few patchy performances last.

He's fit and willing to play so that means Mick will leave him out.
