McGoldrick May Miss Georgia Trip
Thursday, 31st Aug 2017 09:57

Striker David McGoldrick is still to join up with the Republic of Ireland squad ahead of Saturday’s World Cup qualifier against Georgia in Tbilisi and could now miss the trip.

The Irish party assembled in Dublin on Monday but McGoldrick was given additional time off to be with his wife, who is close to giving birth to their fourth child.

The 29-year-old was expected to link-up with the squad on Tuesday but was still to do so yesterday and may now not travel to Georgia.

Ireland, who are currently second in their group and unbeaten having won three and drawn three of their six qualifiers, subsequently face Serbia in Dublin on Tuesday.

McGoldrick has previously won six full caps so far without scoring an international goal. Also in the squad are ex-Blues Daryl Murphy, Jon Walters and Conor Hourihane.

Miltonsnephew - just what he would want to be doing while his wife is giving birth. I bet Roy Keane is very sympathetic to the situation too!

12th man: I think the emojis show his comment was tongue-in-cheek!

His wife must be the size of a space hopper (google it if you were born in the 90's) :)

Obviously very tongue in cheek, I to hope he isn't on his way.

But if someone want to buy him who knows, he seems to be back to the form of a few seasons ago, he's fit and scoring.

Someone in the premiership or another Premiership team might want a punt on him!

Who knows it's transfer deadline day anything can happen.

I hope it doesn't!

Maybe they planned it for the international break not thinking he would be picked? lol
