McCarthy Feels for Frustrated Bishop Monday, 21st Aug 2017 18:23 Boss Mick McCarthy says he feels for midfielder Teddy Bishop, who underwent groin surgery earlier in the week having missed much of the last two seasons due to other unrelated injury problems. “Surgery on a ‘sportsman’s hernia’, apparently,” McCarthy said of the 21-year-old’s latest setback. “I’m not quite sure what the difference is to a ‘hernia’ but it’s a ‘sportsman’s hernia’. “It’s so sad for him, it would be lovely to see him back, we all know what a talented player he is. But you have to be on the pitch and it’s proven difficult for him. "He’s had a number of injuries and every time he seems to just get back towards getting there, he picks up another one. We wish him well because it would be great to have him back.” McCarthy says he’s not sure how long the Cambridge-born academy product will be sidelined for with the latest injury, which is unrelated to his previous problems. “That’s a real frustration for him because he gets back from one injury and he has something else,” the Town manager added. “I do feel for him, because he’s a really talented player.” Also still on the injured list and yet to play a game since joining the Blues on a free transfer following his release by Cardiff is Tom Adeyemi, who picked up a niggle after being ill during pre-season. “He’s still having treatment on that calf,” McCarthy said. “It would be nice to see him out on the pitch.”
