Butcher on FA Diving Panel
Saturday, 5th Aug 2017 10:38

Blues legend Terry Butcher has been named on the list of former players, managers and referees who will be part of FA panels reviewing diving incidents in the season ahead.

Eight former players and managers are on the list: Butcher, Nigel Adkins, Rachel Brown-Finnis, Lee Dixon, Alex McLeish, Danny Murphy, Chris Powell and Trevor Sinclair.

Five former referees - Keren Barratt, Steve Dunn, Mike Mullarkey, Alan Wiley and Eddie Wolstenholme - will join them in adjudicating whether players have taken part in "the successful deception of a match official” with each panel made up of one former player, one manager and one whistler.

If the trio agree that that a player has conned an official into awarding a penalty or giving a yellow or red card to an opponent, then they will be charged and could face a two-match ban.

Great news ... all dives to be spotted by Butch uttering the words "cheating sod, get up you wet heap"

Good, about time. I hated it when Boncho joined us (and many of our fans actually booed him, resulting in him doing it much less) and hate it more now.

Eric Gates could have given them a few tips.

Good thing they don't have diving panels for Sunday league games. I've seen some proper swan dives.

Think Butcher might not have the highest tolerance for players diving and rolling around the floor! Not unless he put them there!
