Bunn Joins Bury
Friday, 4th Aug 2017 20:57

Huddersfield winger Harry Bunn has joined League One Bury for an undisclosed fee, signing a three-year deal.

According to the Shakers, they fought off several Championship and League One clubs to land the 24-year-old.

Speaking earlier this afternoon, Town boss Mick McCarthy confirmed that Bunn had recently crossed his radar but is not the player he is currently hopeful of signing.

To be fair TWTD reported yesterday that we'd made a circa £600k bid for Bunn. Unusual for TWTD to be wrong, so what happened? Even MM said in his press conference today that he had watched Bunn and really rated him, although he wasn't joining... because Bury, Newport (IOW) and Kingstonian Ladies Veterans XI had outbid us.... if it wasn't so funny I'd cry....

A shame in a way as people said good things about Bunn and at 24 he could have made a good permanent signing. I just hope I read this site in the morning and read we have signed a new striker in time for the Birmingham match, as that would give everyone a lift before the opener.

Spot on Arnie M. Earlier Comments are hilarious.
We didn't want him and not did any other Championship clubs. No disrespect to Bury, couple of Uni mates were Bury fans but no sane bloke joins them ahead of any Champ team. He simply isn't good enough for this league but I sincerely hope he gets his career up and running.

Why would he have wanted come here and play hoofball.
We sign 4 wingers every pre-season all of whom have to defend.
It is not all about money, it is choosing a club where he can flourish and become a better player

Town Linked With Fleetwood Striker 1st Jan 2012 19:33
The Blues, Birmingham and West Ham are reported to be amongst the leading contenders to sign Fleetwood Town striker Jamie Vardy. The Cod Army are claimed to have turned down a £1 million offer for the 24-year-old, who has previously been mentioned in connection with Celtic and Huddersfield. 43

Did we ever go for him?

Phil hasn't been wrong in at least 5 years. If Phil from his research said we put in a bid (and he did), then we did put in a bid. Bury either outbid us or alternatively were a better prospect for him (either wage or location wise).

Anyone one with ambition would join Bury instead of this rubbish no Owner who cares and no manager worthy of the name McCarthy OUT

Two points here:

- It's unlikely we were in for him with any conviction. A lot of conflicting reports and nowhere does it say we lost out to Bury. They have merely signed a player we were linked with.

- People are discrediting Bury a bit. They've made a lot of signings this summer - Beckford, Chris Maguire and looks like could be a force in league one. If they offered him a lot of playing time in a team that could - potentially - be pushing for the playoffs, I can see how that would be an attractive proposition. Also, as has previously been alluded to, it's pretty close to Huddersfield - no need to relocate.

Really can't understand the disappointment! Ipswich Town haven't been in any form a spending club for over 4 years. If and when we are linked to a player that includes other interest from clubs undoubtedly the lad isn't signing for us (vast majority). The only thing that would have interested McCarthy in this particular instance was Bunn's versatility, which by the way, sums up our club, patch up and hope for the best!!!!!

Wow - people do like to moan. I think TWTD should take a lot of responsibility for our doom and gloom over transfers completed. How often do TWTD get the rumoured target right? The "target" usually gets reported a few hours before signing!

I suspect Ipswich would have offered more, but it looks like Football isn't all about money. He's from Oldham, family and friends will all be in the area. Bury have spent a bit this summer and look an ambitious club. Nothing too much to read into this. Move on.

ArnieM - quality line that "bunch of knobs" rather unfortunately for you, you will always be remembered as the poster who turned (very briefly) on MM last season. Nice legacy to have!!!

Bit naff, but hope what I think won't happen.. Should we thrash Brum today and get clean sheet, all transfers will be off.. We need above average new faces no matter what. Urgently!

Or maybe we didn't even bid for him?

It said the other day on TWTD that a bid had been put in for him, so was this report wide of the mark?

Town Make Bid for Bunn 3rd Aug 2017 14:42
TWTD understands Town have now made a bid for Huddersfield winger Harry Bunn. 55

"...valued at around £600,000, and we [TWTD] understand a firm offer has now been made."
So if a firm offer had been made, as was reported, is it any wonder some are scratching their heads as to why he's not here now? And don't sound so surprised, how about that player that turned us down for Yeovil before! This isn't the first time under ME that players have picked smaller teams than us because we only pay peanuts! We're lightweights in the transfer market and if Mick had any real ambition or pride he'd of walked long ago as a result of Marcus' paperweight financial backing!

Phil - Question ? - How long will 'ArnieM' keep getting away with ABUSE before you do something ???????????

Surely I'm not the only one wondering ..... ?

To say this person is foul mouthed is an understatement.

Blueboy- the answer to your question is that arniem can continue to abuse posters for as long as the abuse against Dino (or jewell / Keane) is allowed. Arniem is spot on - more kn*bs on here than in b and q.

Perhaps Bunn wants to be a big fish in a small pond, as James Vaughan was at Bury last season.
