Town Linked With Move for Huddersfield Winger
Tuesday, 1st Aug 2017 09:15

Town are reported to be making a move to sign winger Harry Bunn from Premier League new boys Huddersfield.

According to The Sun, a fee of around £500,000 or £600,000 ought to be enough to secure the 24-year-old.

Bunn started his career with Manchester City during which time he spent time on loan at Rochdale, Preston, hometown club Oldham, Crewe, Sheffield United and the Terriers, who he subsequently joined on a permanent basis in January 2014.

Since that switch the 5ft 9in tall wideman, the son of ex-Oldham frontman Frankie, has made 70 starts and 28 sub appearances, scoring 17 goals.

While primarily a left-sided winger, Bunn can also operate centrally in midfield or in a more advanced role behind a main striker.

While a fourth striker remains Mick McCarthy's priority, wide midfield is another area where there Blues are certain to be looking to strengthen.

Huddersfield are in pre-season action in Austria this evening against VfB Stuttgart [a game Bunn wasn't involved in].

Talking with a Huddersfield fan in the office where I work, and Bunn is described as a good little player who will get some, but not a hatful of goals. He can play wide as alluded to elsewhere and probably a decent addition. To add weight to the rumour, he has been playing during the pre-season - presumably so watching scouts can run the rule over him - as my colleague says he is not in the first team picture per se.

Not that I ever trust anything written in The Sun, he looks like a good move on paper and saw him in a couple of games at Huddersfield and look quite promising. But we need a striker first and foremost not a winger

A STRIKER please please please ME get us a striker before it's too late. Ever single point will be needed this year to keep us from relegation.

Mick likes a winger. A striker to replace Pitman (and cover McGoldrick when he spends half the season injured) is what we need plus a bit more creativity in the centre of midfield.

It looks like we may sign a player that Huddersfield do not feel is good enough for the prem. - no surprise there !!!

Ok signing, but need at least one more striker before start of season. Too predictable otherwise. If we only have 3 strikers, other teams can prepare for our tactics from the off.

Half-baked reporting by The Sun.

Sounds like David Wagner wasn't that interested in him last season and played him by and large when injuries occurred, he didn't score in the Championship last season as well. So jury would be out on him.

Skuse will start and if this so called winger comes he will end up playing as an extra full back as usual because when you have players terrified to pass a ball especially at the back and it gets hoofed up field then we are more times on the back foot trying to get the bloody ball back nothing will change as long as that man and some of his babies are playing end of ..

Have you seen the list of strikers the EDP has pulled up as could do a job for town?

Dire.

They can't even get a list of 6 decent options so god knows how we will sign 1.

Sam Winall on the list though, not a bad option and he won't play for Weds (look at their options, Jesus)

Let's get permanent additions in and build a team. Could tick the boxes, but let's hope it's not a panic buy. Club must know they don't have enough players though. Shame it's been left late again.

another poor pre season in the transfer market, ive lost count of the amount of windows where we do very little, we must do the least amount of business in the championship, and it really is groundhog day as the same players are consistently injured and offer very little return, but of course it makes it awkward to get shot of these players if they do not play any football, hardly a selling point for any team who may be interested and we know who these players are, i think they have had long enough and should be released asap to free up £ for new players

What we need most of all is what we have needed for over three seasons a hard working ,hard tackling , high energy defensive midfielder who can dominate and control pace of game . MM is carrying to many good boys who are not good enough Chambers, Knudsen, Skuse and Didz and Sears are getting into that bracket due to there poor scoring records for forwards

No harm buying this fella as he'd be a good addition to the squad, but we DESPERATELY need a big, strong striker. Go and buy Clayton Donaldson or surprise us all by getting Peter Crouch over here Mick.

Would have thought that after Saturdays debacle the number one priority would be a couple of defenders.
