Dozzell Unused Sub as Late Goal Sees England U19s to Euros Final
Wednesday, 12th Jul 2017 19:59

Blues midfielder Andre Dozzell was an unused sub as England’s U19s made it through to the final of the European Championships after defeating the Czech Republic 1-0 via a late, late goal in Tbilisi this evening.

Dozzell suffered a hip injury in Sunday’s 4-1 thrashing of Germany having started all three group games, but was fit enough to be included among the subs for today’s game in which the Young Lions claimed victory in the third minute of injury time via Manchester City’s Lukas Nmecha deft flick.

The 18-year-old Town academy product may well be considered ready for a return to the XI for Saturday’s final when the England youngsters will take on Portugal, who beat Holland 1-0 in the other semi-final this afternoon, in Gori (Eurosport 1, 5pm).

I'll be gutted for him if he doesn't get a cap on Saturday.
Serious Question: Do we send scouts to these tournaments? There have been a few lately including the confederations cup in Russia as well as the various age related ones.

Exciting times for English football. Under 19's in Euro Final, Under 20's won the World Cup!, under 21's knocked out on pens in Semi Finals.

Lets just hope these young players are given a chance at their clubs! unfortunately the likelihood is that their route to the first team will be blocked by expensive overseas signings and many will drift away. Lets hope not!
