Blues Linked With Bodvarsson Loan
Tuesday, 11th Jul 2017 12:03

Town are reported to be showing interest in signing Wolves winger or striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson on loan.

According to Tim Nash, the former Wolves writer for Express & Star, the 25-year-old Iceland international is set to be offloaded having not travelled to Austria for a pre-season trip with the rest of the squad.

Reports elsewhere say he has merely been given additional time off having rarely had a break during the last couple of years due to his domestic and international commitments.

Bodvarsson started his career with Selfoss in his home country before moving on to Norwegian club Viking, German side Kaiserslautern and then Wolves in the summer of 2016.

Last season 6ft 3in tall Bodvarsson made 24 starts and 24 sub appearances for Wolves, scoring three goals.

Against Town at Molineux last August Bodvarsson, who has been capped 32 times by Iceland, scoring twice, won a penalty which he then took and had saved by Bartosz Bialkowski.

Meanwhile, former Town striker Daryl Murphy is being linked to a return to Sunderland on loan from Newcastle.

Nottingham Forest are also said to be keen to take the Ireland international on loan, while Aston Villa reportedly want to sign the one-time Celtic and Waterford United man on a permanent basis.

Recent links with Norwich City appear to have nothing in them, while TWTD understands Middlesbrough have also registered their interest on taking the 34-year-old on loan.

Some people have short memories: similar posts were made when we signed Emyr Huws on loan he turned out well & going back a few years D:Murphy similar: just because it doesn't workout for a player at 1 club it's doesn't mean a new team & manager can't get something out of Dadi:

Not bowled over by this fella in any shape of form, whichever way you look at it, a big striker is a must, otherwise we are completely stuffed. Not sure where all this pro Pitman talk is coming from as his achieved nothing on a consistent basis, but I will always remember him for that 92nd minute winner against Leeds last year.

This a report from a freelancer that no-one has ever heard of so I'll hold off until interest confirmed.

ITFCFan, if you are going to slag off people as you have, the least you could do is to get your spelling right. Shows disrespect to other posters.

32 caps for Iceland, ranked 19th in the world.
Usually places on the right wing,. similar style player a certain Jon Walters.
I swear some of you read one line of the article and went into keyboard rage frenzy. Quite amusing.

So Dino. You want to replace Pitman (14 goals in 37 starts for us) with a lanky donkey (3 in 24) ?????

Oh I forgot he runs around a lot and is a proper bloke.

You're a washed up idiot McCarthy. Luckily only 1 more season of your dross to go and the fans will come back. Missed a BIG chance this summer Marcus to recruit a young modern hungry positive manager and kept this pr1ck.

Hope you don't live yo regret it. The bookies not often wrong and were 3rd favourites to go down. We are still 3 or 4 players short and I don't trust Dino to get the right ones in !!! This is defo not one of them.

COYB !!!

I presume he didn't play in all of 48 games as a striker because, well... he only scored 3 goals and still played 48 times. Aside from that, so many people using a random link, from a tweet by a local hack in wolverhampton as a stick to try and hit MM with. Grow up!

Pilgrimblue ..... a few seasons ago Magilton signed Jon Walters after a very impressive performance for Chester against us in the Cup. Marcus Stewart's performances against Town in late 90s no doubt had a bearing on Burley buying him from Huddersfiled. These guys weren't lazy just astute. Also whenever did say Kevin Bru, Tyrone Mings, Jonas Knudsen, Celina Besant or Danny Rowe line up againt a Town side managed by McCarthy?

Pitman along with the other players that Mick has fallen out with and don't get a look in are prime examples of the bad egg creep in the dressing room who reports all to our great leader(but the creep is premiership class and first on the team sheet, he did this at the club he was at for years how do I know I have several friends who support a club 12 miles from where I live in Bath any more clues required??) Mick stated he wanted to clear all bad eggs out but cuddles this inept excuse for a footballer and loves him to bits WHY!!!!!!!!!

I suspect that we'll be signing Darren Bent, subject to moving on Bru and/or Pitman.

Have a few Wolves supporting mates. The comments I got were hard working and committed. In fact they both wished he could be played more centrally but was always played out wide hence the goal to games ratio. That said they liked him out wide.
Neither want him to go - think he will grow into a good player next season under the right manager.
Amazing how another potential signing is written off already.

He's a man you can't take the ball from. Clearly he's really good at shielding it, not bad at crossing it eather. Do we anyone to head the crosses in?

Fits the bill - big, cheap and hard working.

Not the goal scorer we need.

I have to say while he doesn't look that great on paper, I've never seen him play so if we do get him I'm more than happy to give the lad a chance. I like the post where it says he has pace and can hold the ball up well. My main dig was that our scouting rarely seems that imaginative. Apart from Knudsen (who divides opinion) we seem rather predictable in the transfer market. I do think Rowe might come good though if he's given a fair chance to shine so somebody earned their money with that one. But I do wish we'd make more of an effort to look in other countries like Spain, Holland, France and Portugal for players.

And just because somebody scored 2 goals against us doesn't make them a world beater, especially when he only managed 1 goal against the other 23 teams! This policy of being continually linked with strikers that have scored against us is rather curious. How about judging them on how they have played against all the other teams in the division as well if not we might keep signing flash in the pan players. There are lots of players that can put in a man of the match performance one time a season and then go missing for nearly every other game. They are expensive luxuries we can't afford. Ideally we want a goal scorer with a good level of consistency. Mick always says it's not worth signing a player unless they are better than what he already have. Therefore, does this guy fit the bill in that respect? I can't really say because I haven't seen him play. But I do have my doubts. I do however like the fact that he has pace. But his lack of goals is a big concern. But if we do get him then let's see what he's got (as there's nothing concrete yet, just speculation) but if he's only got 2 more goals by Xmas than Skuse then I think it would be save for us to say that Mick's dropped another transfer clanger!

we need a player who is going to really be a goal scorer, we have had players who knock one in now and again....that's never enough. ITFC have always had that sort of player ,[i could list them] over the years, until recently.Lack of goals has been a major problem past 18 months of play.If that problem isn't addressed it will be another season of woe .

Lightningboy added 10:33 - Jul 12
People go on about Pitman being a bit lazy?...personally i'd rather have a lazy-ish striker who can stick in 15-20+ goals a season over one that runs his socks off but scores 3 in 48.

Give Brett and Freddie a decent run up front and they will score.

He was not very good against us at Molyneux last year- although Wolves were not very good under Zenga.
A signing to make use of the Knudsen long throw?
