Strong U23s Side Facing Palace
Monday, 20th Feb 2017 12:38

Tommy Smith, Luke Hyam, Teddy Bishop, Andre Dozzell and Danny Rowe will all be involved with the U23s when they take on Crystal Palace at Dulwich Hamlet’s Champion Hill Stadium this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Smith will be playing his third U23s match as he continues his comeback from the back operation he underwent in September, while Hyam, who has missed the whole season so far with a knee injury, will be making his second appearance for Gerard Nash’s side, having played 65 minutes of last week’s 0-0 draw at West Brom.

Also starting against the Eagles are defender Paul Digby and striker Ben Morris.

U23s: Crowe, Fowler, Woolfenden, Hyam, Digby, T Smith, Rowe, Bishop, Morris, Dozzell, McLoughlin. Subs: C Smith, Hayes, McDonnell, Blanchfield, McKendry.

As much as a nice guy Tommy is, I always thought he was shakey and contributed to so many defensive errors playing on his wrong side as a back four. Yet I'm really looking forward to seeing him at the heart of our new 532/352 formation. I think it's inevitable that Berra will move on so a back 3 of either: Smith/Webster/Chambers, Knudsen/Smith/Webster/Smith or Smith/Taylor/Webster looks pretty good. Webster calm approach may help Tommy settle and force him to play the ball rather than hoof it 9 times out of 10.

Mick's here. So is Myles. "Alright, Gaffer?" said Myles.

WRIIA - Some? I've only posted two. Kenlock well behaved and friendly. Mick slimmer and handsomer than usual. Danny Rowe EVERYWHERE. Then he scored. Town excellent value for 3-0.

Oh. And HYAM PLAYED REALLY WELL.

So did Woolfenden.

Amazing what difference a little bit of confidence can make. Bishop was three times the player he'd been against Charlton's reserves the other week.
