Lawrence Injury Not Serious
Thursday, 2nd Feb 2017 09:50

Town have confirmed that top scorer Tom Lawrence suffered no serious damage to his ankle during Tuesday’s 3-0 home defeat to Derby and could even be involved in Saturday’s game against Reading at Portman Road.

Lawrence, on loan for the season from Leicester, turned his ankle close to the end of the first half of the Rams match and was subbed at the break.

“Tom had a scan yesterday and the news is good,” Town physio Matt Byard told the club site.

“He has basically sprained his ankle so he won’t be out for any length of time. He could even be back for the weekend. We are looking at it as 50/50 at the moment.”

Wales international Lawrence, 23, has scored eight goals in 24 starts and one sub appearance since joining the Blues in August.

"...and could even be involved in Saturday's game."

Let's hope so, otherwise Reading won't even need to turn up.

Our best outfield player and would have been sorely missed. Only player who seems to be able to score right now.....

Good news at last. Not saying we're a one-man team or anything, but we're a one-man team

Going to be listening to the match on the radio on Saturday. Phrases I hope to hear:

"Another wonderful run and shot by Lawrence"
"It's yet another corner to Ipswich, massive pressure"
"It's a goal...Ipswich are making this look easy"

Phrases I don't want to hear:

"Awful defending"
"Knudsen has been nutmegged yet again"
"Yet Another wonderful save by Bart"
"Have Ipswich managed a shot this half?"
"Reading are being given so much space"
"Oh dear, the pressure on Ipswich is incredible, how are they holding out?"
"It's like the last stand of the Spartan 300 out there"
"Oh...and yet another Ipswich pass comes to nothing"
"Cracking strike by ADD READING PLAYER"
"Oh, and Ipswich have messed that up"

We need these 3 points. Great news about Lawrence and it actually gives us a small fighting chance. Bit of luck, Lawrence and Bart in top form and we might "grind out" (MM's term) a 1-0.
Mick out. But us to avoid relegation!

He's is our only goal threat Cornishnick! It's good news and could be our only chance of survival if we play him far enough up the pitch to get in goal scoring positions and not as a defending midfielder. Our defence certainly can't be relied on enough to stop goals and our midfield can't be relied on to create any goals or set any up apart from Laurence.

TWTD in (relatively) good news story shocker.

Might buy a lottery ticket while the going's good !

Hopefully this isn't another 'Fraser @ QPR' moment. If he is at all dodgy, rest him for one game rather than take a risk and lose him for the rest of the season!

Most teams will have on their notes - stop Laurence and you will win.

he is going to be a marked man - I hope no - one gets him like watford did with johnny a few years back.

Positive news, although expectation levels are low for this season we need this fella to keep us above the drop zone.
DINO out NOW PLEASE

I bet he wishes he never came, playing in a team devoid of spirit and heart.
Can anyone tell me what has Andre Dozzell done wrong is he injured?

Finally a bit of good news. I still don't think I'd risk him Saturday what with the schedule we have coming up. As long as he's fit for the Norwich game later in the month!

Andre Dozzel however good a prospect needs to beef up a bit and be given 20 or 30 minutes game time other wise he will be another crocked player that doesn't full fill his potential.

Greats news and good that the injury happened just before half time so he didn't go on playing afterwards which could have caused more damage.

Look forward to seeing him scoring a couple of goals on Saturday!
