McGoldrick Facing Another Spell on the Sidelines
Friday, 12th Aug 2016 12:19

Town striker David McGoldrick is set for another spell on the sidelines after picking up an ankle injury in Tuesday’s EFL Cup defeat to Stevenage.

We understand the striker suffered an ankle ligament injury shortly after coming on as a half-time sub against Boro and is thought likely to be out for at least six weeks.

[Edit] However, surgery and a longer absence has not yet been ruled out. The former Nottingham Forest and Southampton man is set to see a specialist on Monday.[/Edit]

The latest injury is a big blow for the 28-year-old, who has picked up a succession of injuries in the last few seasons, largely unrelated to one another.

Town boss Mick McCarthy acted quickly to add to his squad, re-signing Luke Varney on a short-term contract.

Must be all those sudden turns skilful players do. You'd have to have Michael Phelps' ankles with two joints for them to last.

To all those suggesting we sell. Who do you think will buy him? How uch do you think he is worth?

Answer; No one and not much at all. Which is unfortunate but sadly true.

It's just ridiculous. MM has hoped all his injuries were behind him. Of course we al wanted to see him play at his best but MM should have realised it wasn't going to plan and sold him. He now needs to move on and cancel his contract and find replacement. Reg is a joke, not in same league.

Injuries unrelated to one another it says elsewhere.Does he overcompensate for weakness ? Does he report fit when he isn't ? Has his training regime changed ?
CORRECTION
I ask myself who has managed his recovery form injuries in the past, and how closely they do so. Hope it's NOT just that he's not strong enough in general to recover from minor knocks or to keep up with the fitness regime at the club.

Sadly, nothing lasts for ever. - See more at: http://www.twtd.co.uk/ipswich-town-news/30028/mcgoldrick-facing-another-spell-on
