Ainsley Maitland-Niles won his fifth England U19 cap as his side thrashed Japan 5-1 in a friendly at Manchester City’s Academy Stadium this afternoon.

The 18-year-old, who is on a season-long loan from Arsenal, played the first 62 minutes and was involved as Tottenham's Josh Onomah opened the scoring.

Manchester City's Patrick Roberts, Chelsea's Tammy Abrahams (2) and Arsenal's Daniel Crowley netted the other England goals.

Maitland-Niles was previously a 70th minute sub during Thursday’s 2-2 friendly draw in Holland.

Elsewhere, on-loan Blues defender Matt Clarke came on as a 58th minute sub as Portsmouth drew 0-0 at home to AFC Wimbledon in League Two this afternoon.

It was Clarke’s first appearance for Pompey since October 10th. The 19-year-old, who is on loan with Portsmouth until January 3rd, has made 12 starts in addition to today’s game from the bench.

Meanwhile, Town’s U21s are in action against Brentford at Playford Road on Monday afternoon (KO 1pm).
