A first-day cover celebrating England’s 1966 World Cup win, signed by manager Sir Alf Ramsey and all his team, is attracting huge interest ahead of a Suffolk auction tomorrow.

The first day of issue was August 18th, nearly three weeks after the historic 4-2 extra-time win over West Germany at Wembley. Lockdales, the auctioneers of Martlesham, have given it a catalogue guide price of £240.

The signature of the architect of the great triumph, Alf Ramsey, leads the way in at the top on the left.

The players who also signed are Gordon Banks, George Cohen, Ray Wilson, Nobby Stiles, Jack Charlton, Alan Ball, Roger Hunt, Bobby Charlton, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters.

James Sadler, the auction manager, said: “It’s a bit special for all the 1966 World Cup winners autographs to be together on any paper, at any time. For them to be on such a memorable first-day cover is really exceptionally special.”

Amazed the reserve on this is just £240... Surely it's worth much more than that?

Those were the days when signatures could actually be read, unlike the quick scrawls we see today.

Superfrans :- Could be that £240 is just a come and get me price. Like you I'd expect it to fetch much more than that.
