McCarthy Frustrated By Current Position
Monday, 9th Mar 2015 06:00

Boss Mick McCarthy says he would have been happy with Town's current position if it had been offered to him at the start of the season, but is less pleased now as the Blues were second in the table as recently as mid-January.

Asked whether he would have taken Town’s present situation of seventh, one point from the play-offs and five off the top two back in August, McCarthy chose his words carefully.

“For me to answer that question just straight away suggests I’m looking for a silver lining in the position that we’re in,” he said. “It’s always easier to say ‘We’d have been really happy with that’.

“Yes, we would at the start of the season but bearing in mind we were second however many games ago, I’m not happy with it.

“But, in answer to the question, at the beginning of the season we’d have all taken it, you included and every Ipswich fan would have taken it.

“It frustrates me that we are where we are. But that’s part of the game and it’s up to us to [get back in the top two or top six].

“We had a really good performance against Brentford and if we play like that then we should get enough points to be in the promotion scrap whatever it is, whether that’s the top two or the top six.”

Meanwhile, Town’s U21s are in action against Colchester United at Playford Road this afternoon (KO 1pm).

Mr Evans------can I have a pint of what you are on please---to say Bartman is one of the best keepers seen in years is just plain silly, end of.

And Mick--we create danger when we cross the ball so does it not make sense to play a wide man to put them in--you have obviously gone off Henshall and dont rate Stewart, and presumably you must have seen something in Connolly?

This is why fans get SO frustrated!!

It is slightly disappointing being 7th after where we were a few months ago. But to be honest since the season we finished 7th under magilton which was what? Seven or eight years ago, this so far is our most successful season since then. I hope and actually think we will finish in 6th which would be a great achievement with the squad we have/money spent. The only thing which niggles me slightly is our style of play, which can be boring and predictable at times. Would love to have a more fluid midfield who can pass and link play with the fowards, rather than watch the ball fly over there heads! But think this is micks style, but at the same time it's got us in the position we are now, even though we were playing slightly better earlier on in the season it has to said. All that aside let's get behind the team for the rest of the season and see where we finish!! UTT

So you are frustrated now are you Guru Mick LOL .... Hmmmm then you know exactly how us fans have felt for quite a while! :-) especially about your managerial Delusion of Grandeur which mostly shows it's ugly face in your tactical stubbornness/ineptitude and totalitarian attitude towards the Media or really any form of dissent, plus of course ME's Ebenezer Scrooge impersonation particular when we earlier had the chance to possibly run away from the rest of the play-off contenders with just 2-3 REAL strong reinforcements!
So once again you are now "frustrated" Guru Mick ...... Hmmmm that's a bummer obviously :-), but ehhhh how about looking inward and also in the good old mirror then Mick .... cause in concise biblical terms "You (and ME!) reap what you sow". Period!
Here's a few hints though: Most opponents have now figured out how to deal with your shall we say "default" tactics incl. the sooner or later Hoof Ball galore show .... and if they have the players and capacity to press for an early goal and lead, those same opponents should by all means do so .... cause if there is one thing Mick McCarthy's Hoof Town in general is NOT remotely good at then it's playing football when behind!!!
