West Brom Youngster Linked
Sunday, 11th Jan 2015 16:31

Town and Wolves are reported to be keen on signing young West Brom striker Adil Nabi on loan.

According to the Sunday Mirror, the two clubs want to add to their striking options with the 20-year-old having impressed for the Baggies' U21s this season.

The frontman, who is yet to make a senior appearance, came through the ranks at West Brom and has won England caps at U16 and U17 levels.

Nabi also qualifies to play international football for Pakistan, while his younger brothers Samir and Rahis are with Albion's academy.

Speaking on Friday, Town boss Mick McCarthy said he is currently happy with his striking options.

The Tony Pulis connection could work in our favour if we are interested - ala Jonny Williams.

Can't see it myself.

Only U21 experience is not what we need right now.

We desperately need a striker as back up to our main two. Sammon and Bajner not good enough. Hunt is a winger.

Just watched Stoke , and thought how much I would love to see Jon Walters back in our line up , hard working and a m.m type of player, play him wide right , no chance but there go

@Jas: Noel Hunt has played on the wing, but he is primarily a striker. He's a different type of forward to Murphy or McGoldrick, but his best position is up front. He is a poacher, as we saw at Charlton, & could play alongside either of our 2 main forwards if the other was missing. I do see him mainly as a second half sub, where his energy & niggly enthusiasm can help him to create something out of nothing or get him on the end of chance from 2 yards. I'd also definitely bring him on in preference to Bajner or Sammon.

Can't see it happening with Wolves being linked. Going to Wolves would mean he wouldn't have to uproot.

Afikobe (i think) banging them in for fun at MK dons this season on loan from Arsenal. Sure he would jump at the chance to prove himself at a higher level. Wolves are supposed to be in for him too.

Hucks216 it would mean he wouldn't have to up root but is he likely to sign even on loan for his parent clubs local rivals? Would be like us sending Bajner out on loan to Narwich. So if we are interested that may swing it our way. Although agree with RecencyBlue, we need a proven goal scorer at this time in the season. It's not the righ time to gamble on unproven young talent. Still feel Bajner will come good once given game time. He's not going to dislodge Murphy and Didz right now but that doesn't mean he hasn't got anything to add. Many didn't think much of Bru at first but after he settled in and got some game time we've seen how class he could be. Bajner has less chance to play as there are only really two front options so it's harder to get any game time so he can improve and adapt to this division. I just don't feel he should be totally written off just yet until we've seen more of him.

Not saying now is the time for Bajner either though by the way. Just feel his criticism is unfounded and too premature. Right now though we do need a proven back up striker for the run in, and possibly another creative midfielder.

Hucks - moving to Wolves would be like us lending one of our youngsters to Norwich. Does that really happen between Wolves and WBA.

If Afikobe has signed for Wolves tonight, unlikely that they'll pursue Nabi as well.

Have a work colleague who lives in brum and is a big baggies fan, he said this kid is the real deal and one the fans have wanted to see in the first team for a while, maybe like us and Marriott, can't worse then the back up we have, I'm shocked bajner is still happy here doesn't look as though he will ever pull on a blue shirt again

WBA loaning to Wolves? I wouldn't be happy if we loaned our youngsters to Norwich...just saying!

Samassi - Bajner isn't getting game time because no-one would expect him to dislodge McG or Murph. Sammon comes on specifically to hold the ball up, harass defenders and defend himself whilst Noel Hunt provides energy out wide. Therefore I would suggest we can't judge Bajner at all, let alone claim he will never play for us.

I would like to see what Baljner is like now after that first disastrous game when he didnt make half time.

I have not ruled him out yet as have not seen him, thought would have been a good opportunity against Charlton when 3-0 up.

Loanee from WBA---we should be aiming higher than this if we want to go up, unless the owner has told MM he is having no money to spend, and if he is he is a fool.

PragmaticBlue...

no im not slating Bajner I actually thought he looked like he had something pre season, I just feel hes our 5th striker at the moment, maybe we could do with sending him out on loan to a league 1 side to see what he can do.

If anyone is interested My second Team is MKDONS Where I live, Afobi is very impressive, fast, strong.works very hard along the front and can score, best in this league by Far, as good as Bamford in a different way, if he has to leave better it be with Town than anyone else, otherwise I will be sorry to see him go, also agree that, it would be a good idea to try Mings further up front, it would give us more height and strength.
