Former Town forward Roger Wosahlo has died aged 67. He had been suffering with cancer.

Cambridge-born Wosahlo joined the Blues from Chelsea in July 1967 and made one senior start, while featuring regularly for the reserves, before moving on to Peterborough in July 1968.

He returned to the Blues for a second spell a year later and made one sub appearance before he moved to South Africa.

Wosahlo was subsequently involved with Ipswich Wanderers for more than 20 years. He leaves a wife, Marilyn, and sons Greg and Bradley.

A number of times over the years he helped me out & it was never about the money, always about the service. He will be sadly missed. RIP, Roger.

BourneBlue added 21:13 - Jan 10 RIP Roger. Had the pleasure of playing with Roger at Bury Town in late 1970's. He was veteran of the team & kept his Chelsea & Town programmes in his kit bag to prove to us youngsters that he 'used' to be a 'top' player. He never needed to show us the programme; even in his 30's you could see he had class. He was also a very funny guy who was not afraid to laugh at himself.

GusPoet added 23:12 - Jan 10 Two of my uncles played for Westerfield on the next pitch to Ipswich Wanderers so as I young kid I used to go with them when Town were away. I was often knocking about on my own at half time and while they were getting changed. Roger always used to make sure I was alright and would give me a free can of coke and a Mars bar and chat about ITFC. Lovely man. RIP.

jez added 14:50 - Jan 11 Roger will be solely missed within the local footballing community and especially at Ipswich Wanderers FC where he rightly was a legend. He had a lovely heart and would always help others with his generosity. My father had the pleasure to speak to him this past week where they were able to say their goodbyes to one another, a very touching moment but emphasises the man he was and in retrospect has made my dad's pain of losing a friend a little easier. Our condolences to Marilyn, Gregg & Bradley. The Eason's.
