Arsenal Again Linked With Mings Move
Sunday, 30th Nov 2014 11:51

Left-back Tyrone Mings is once again the subject of speculation in the Sunday papers.

According to the Mail on Sunday Arsenal will make an £8 million offer for the 21-year-old in January if Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels opts to join Manchester United instead of the Gunners.

Arsenal have been keeping a close eye on Mings this season, along with the likes of Chelsea, Newcastle, Sunderland, Everton, Manchester United and Burnley.

£8m? ***k off!!
He's already worth £16m, and will probably be 20m by end of the season. Huge talent.

Just seen the Charlton goal. Great finish and Didsy did amazing in the approach to create it.

I don't think we will sell Mings come January it would have to take £15 plus for ME to accept I reckon. If we are serious about this promotion push then we've got to keep our best players quite simply.
And the fact is Mings plays 2 positions for us left back and left mid, we don't actually play a left midfielder if anyone has noticed, hunt starts on the right and sometimes drifts over to the left, Murphy will drift over there but when we are attacking he is our left midfielder, he has the pace and unbelievable stamina to do that and if we lost him we'd actually be losing our best winger as well as a quality left back.

Why would anyone want to move to club who are managed by Football's equivalent of Victor Meldrew?
Seriously though, we cannot afford to lose any of our current squad now that we have built up a head of steam and are playing with such belief which is born out of the team spirit Mick, Terry and back room staff have evidently built.
If Mings or for that matter McGoldrick were to be sold, who could we buy to replace them?

This will happen eventually it's just a matter of time. Whether we like it or not Ipswich Town is a small club with limited financial clout and footballers all chase the money and the chance to play at the highest level. We have to hope he doesn't go for less than his worth and there are some good extras included around sell on appearances and international caps. There is no loyalty in the game today.

He will be worth more in the summer. Better all round to wait till then, but i am not against selling him... in the past we really pushed on after selling a big player ... though the most recent sale (Wickham) was not spent wisely, I reckon Mick could find some gems for less than half the money they pay us.

Standard premier league scouting affair. Arsenal scouts making sure they are ahead of everyone else, especially their rivals.

Highly unlikely they will make a move in January, unless they obtain a world class player on loan 6months and do a loan back to us. In the face of losing Mings to Chelsea, City or United.

I think any purchasing club would consider the playoffs a decent education for a young player.

Only way ME would be persuaded is if the buying team has a player of interest to us in exchange.

A good player but still very raw. Could sell him with a year and a half loan back deal would suit all parties. Maturing as a quality player quite nicely. Unfortunately we are a club out of the premier league so the big boys see us as a smaller club and will always scout for the next big thing. Looks like our academy has has unearthed a few gems again. Bring on catagory one status.

Keep him and he/we could be in the prem in 6 months..£8m is nowhere near what he could be worth in a year or two.

Over the years I have always compared us to Southampton as a similar type club-----OK, you may laugh but they are where we should aspire to be---they are not really bigger or better than us but have been run an aweful lot better for the last few years.

We will not get there if we sell our best players, we are now in a fantastic position and quite honestly I fear nobody in this league, home or away.

What we do need from the club is an early statement from the club to confirm that NOBODY i being sold in the January window and in fact we will be adding quality to the squad to get us where we all want to be---Mick deserves that.

We are a small squad but are closely nit. You can be sure if we need players in Mick & TC will already have identified them ready for the January window and they will be players who will not upset those in the dressing room already. Great when we sing "We only spent 10 grand" as we turnover bigger spenders. COYB's.

IPSWICH 3 - 1 LEEDS UTD. Berra, Murphy & McGoldrick.

Sadly anything and everything in this world has its price, if the correct bid came in then he would be on his way, the same as above! he would be missed, but ME is a business man, has invested and lost some 80 million in ITFC!

Now ask yourself an honest question...................if you were ME what would you do?

......... absolute certainty that he will grace a top Club at some point - it's anyone's guess as to how soon it happens. Sooner rather than later is my guess - enormous talent for sure.

Makes absolutely no sense to sell mings in jan whatsoever if we going to push on for promo push.ME did sterling work keeping him n didz in last window and needs to do same again come jan.besides if he goes to arsenal he will do the same as all the other young British talent whinger has signed and warm the bench.if he goes to burnley we will be swapping places and probably palace too,the only team who could desperately do with a defender et the minute are Norwich.Dont need to sell with a view to a loan back because the way he's going he's going to be worth at least treble the price that's been quoted within the next year anyway.COYB
