Town’s U18s will face Colchester United away in the third round of the FA Youth Cup, the U’s having beaten Cheltenham 2-1 in their second round tie at the Weston Homes Community Stadium this afternoon.

Having gone behind early on, the North Essex side fought back with second-half goals from Louis Dunne and Joel Atkin winning them the tie.

Former Blues defender Wayne Brown coaches Colchester’s U18s, while his former Town team-mates John McGreal and Fabian Wilnis are also on the U’s academy staff.

Colchester's first-team boss Tony Humes is a former Town player and academy chief, while his assistant Richard Hall was a coach at Playford Road having been a youth player with the Blues.

The third round tie will be at the Weston Homes Community Stadium and must be played before Saturday 20th December.
