Keane: At Ipswich I Managed Badly
Keane: At Ipswich I Managed Badly
Tuesday, 7th Oct 2014 13:26

Former Town boss Roy Keane’s second autobiography The Second Half is published Thursday but after a Manchester branch of Tesco put it on sale early passages have begun to appear on Twitter and in the national media.

While much of the material leaked so far centres around his time at Manchester United, the Irishman includes a chapter on what he accepts were 20 unsuccessful months at Town.

"I don't think I'm a bad manager, but at Ipswich I managed badly,” he says in the book, which he wrote with Booker Prize-winning author Roddy Doyle.

"I spoke to some people like something on the bottom of my shoe,” concedes Keane, who is now the assistant manager of the Republic of Ireland and Aston Villa.

“I couldn't feel it - me and the club,” he admitted, adding, "I don't f****** like blue. City were blue, Rangers were blue. My biggest rivals were blue. Is that childish?”

The Second Half is officially published on Thursday and is available from Amazon here.

i never did like him in the first place. In fact, I've always hated Man Utd, Leeds & Norwich or anyone related to these clubs.

Easy to say this in a book, how about standing up in front of the supports and saying it.

Upon his appointment I said he was the wrong personality for the ITFC ethos and style but like most on here was willing to give him a chance. I thought at the time we should have held out for Tony Mowbray whose days at WBA were almost up. Mowbray joined Celtic 2 months later.

His comments on blue are trite - hopefully there will be something of substance when the book issues although I wont be buying it.

Discussing whether he or PJ was the poorer manager is like discussing whether Hitler was more evil than Stalin!! pointless.

When I heard Keane had become Manager I knew straight away he wasn't going to be right for this club.
Doesn't surprise me here that not one person can find any redeeming feature. Don't think he should have any job in football at all. There we are - think I've spent too much time on it already.
