McGoldrick Missing From 18 at Derby
Saturday, 30th Aug 2014 14:09

Town striker David McGoldrick is missing from the 18 facing Derby County at the iPro Stadium this afternoon following reports that he is close to an £8 million move to Premier League Leicester City.

McGoldrick didn't travel with the rest of the squad yesterday having picked up a dead leg in training on Thursday, however, given the interest from the Foxes it seems unlikely that the Blues would have risked the 26-year-old if he had picked up a knock of any extent.

Elsewhere in the side, Mick McCarthy springs a few surprises by handing Jonny Parr his Blues debut and Teddy Bishop and Kevin Bru their full debuts with Tyrone Mings dropping to the bench and Cole Skuse missing from the squad having been ill overnight. Elliott Hewitt is also missing, having picked up a knock.

The Blues seem likely to match Derby's formation with Murphy the lone striker and Bru, Bishop and Hyam forming a central midfield three and Jay Tabb and Paul Anderson on the left and right respectively.

Derby: Grant, Christie, Keogh, Buxton, Forsyth, Eustace, Bryson, Hendrick, Ward, Russell, Martin. Subs: Roos, Shotton, Whitbread, Hughes, Dawkins, Best, Mascarell.

Town: Gerken, Parr, Chambers (c), Smith, Berra, Bru, Bishop, Hyam, Anderson, Tabb, Murphy. Subs: Bialkowski, Mings, Bajner, Henshall, McQueen, Clarke, Nouble.

Let's be honest... DM would've gone last season had he not been injured. Good luck to him!

Awful just awful. I see Hewitts not even on the bench, and Henshall is sat there while central midfielder Tabb plays on the left of the attacking 3.
Just seems any young player with any attacking instincts is not Micks " type of player".
Honestly i give up i really do

Are Ipswich a Joke I think so if they sell David

let him go. It's so silly money. One last minute quality signing of a striker, and/or 1-2 quality loan signings for creative midfield and attack with options of permanency. Sad to see him go, but it's a lifesaver for the longer term.

He hasn't even spent the money from Creswell yet what do you think he will do with David's money. Nothing I expect because MM lack's ambition

Thebeat Hewitt picked up a Knock I believe and mroberts I suspect mm is as cheesed off as we all are losing his best players and being given nothing to invest!

The revenue from Creswell is insignificant compared to 8 millions - at least until a few clauses are triggered. 8 millions is a heck of a lot of money - almost as much as Leeds got from mcGormack !

We were told that all off Creswell's money would strengthen the squad Marcus Evans is full of it and MM is having an easy ride for 1M a season

If Didzy is sold I think this really will show ME commitment to the club is waivering. Our 2 best players sold in a season that we should have been expected to really compete for a promotion place and none of the money reinvested in the squad. Demotivational or what!
MM will expect the back 4 to get even more goals now. Come on Christophe we need 15 from you now. COYB

Mings left Parr right. Tabb playing well Bishop a godsend, Bru creating. Even at 1-1 we will probably lose but this is looking better now- listening to the match. COYB

I dont want bloody loans how has it come to this. All i want to see is my team try hard play passing football and be competitive is that asking too much. I thought we tried the loan route and everyone was against it now a lot on here seem to think its going to be our saviour. I want to see signed players i dont know who they are or where they its not my job to find them. At this moment in time we need players who will improve the team not the squad. What do the scouts do where are the youngsters why farm out Marriot im sorry i think MM is reaching the point where hes lost the plot. He never has been and will be a passing manager its route one with all his teams, so why keep crying out for a creative midfielder. Like or not we are stuck with this. The clue is in the name Mick you play it to feet its simple when you work it out.

Ian Dowie saying we're playing well. But then, he was a hoof merchant too.

...... not at all surprised with the McGoldrick situation - he is a player who needs to be playing for a 'go ahead' and 'ambitious' team, and he will not have been impressed with the current ITFC philosophy, and start to this season.

Shame, but inevitable he will move on at some point - because he will want to win things - in short we are genuinely not good enough for him.

I can understand that completely.
