Hyam and Anderson Miss Burnley Trip
Thursday, 24th Apr 2014 14:54

Midfielders Luke Hyam and Paul Anderson have been ruled out of Saturday’s game at Burnley, while Anthony Wordsworth is a doubt, but better news is that centre-half Christophe Berra is fit to return to the side having missed Monday’s 2-2 draw with Bournemouth.

Manager Mick McCarthy says the Scotland international is over his knee problem: “Christophe’s trained today, he’s fine. Luke Hyam won’t be involved, it’s too soon for him. He’s strained his hip flexor.”

Wordsworth and Anderson were subbed on Monday suffering with a dead leg and a hamstring problem respectively.

McCarthy added: “Woody’s still feeling the effects, he hasn’t trained today, he’s feeling quite stiff and sore and as for Ando I think the game will come too quick for him, he won’t be involved. All the others are all right, they’ve all trained.”

2 of our best results have come as Hyam operating largely as the holding midfielder on his own without Skuse, coincidence or not?

Are we missing a trick here. Cresswell has had so many assists and now we have a good athletic quality left back in mings......play Cresswell in left midfield????
Imagine the problems he would cause other teams.
Hunt has done a sound job but he is not the answer at left mid. He lost the ball on 4 occasions against Bournemouth on Monday and beat his man once. I think he is a solid player but surely let's have a look at Cresswell at left mid with a license to attack the opposition right back.
What have we got to lose? We need 6 points from 2 games.
Let's get behind TC and MM.

Totally agree with barrysandals , thought it worked well against Yeovil away second half . Cresswell is our main threat with his crosses lets get him further forward would make us more stable in defence also which surely MM would like ?

Tractorboyz, sorry but stick to Football Manager. Wark, Mills etc rate Taylor as our best player.
The fact that Mick has got us near the playoffs without him makes most intelligent fans, like many on TWTD, realise that if he had put aside his petty issues with him, we would be where Burnley or Leicester are.

After seeing a league one side, Bournemouth, tear us apart with a show of attacking football, we should be promoted by now, if we used our best players properly. But no, we kick it long to Murphy. Time and Time again.
If, and its a huge if, we go up, I hope Mick does the honourable thing, and passes the reigns to an modern attacking manager like Fergie Jnr or Eddie Howe.

And I say that for one reason - the manager's negative tactics have cost us many many points. We have lost more points from a winning position, then any other team in the division. If we had won those, and not been bring on defenders to hold out for a draw, we would be the ones drinking champagne now and planning our first premiership season in many years.

Realist, I need to stop doing this, but I'm hoping eventually the message may finally get through your tiny brain.
Mick McCarthy is the best thing that has happened to our club in many years, regardless of the football we play, at this moment in time what we need is wins - it makes no difference how we get them!
By saying you want Darren Ferguson or Eddie Howe shows just how stupid you are. Darren ferguson cannot even get his Peterborough team back into the championship! So I don't know how you think he could manage in the prem. he has tried on numerous occasions in the championship and failed miserably every single time.
Now although I do think Eddie Howe is a good manager, that is only with Bournemouth (his club) he is a cult hero there and loves every second of it. He's already proved at burnley he can't cut it at another club.
And finally, Paul Taylor...I don't know what games you have watched this season but he has shown nothing to suggest he is our best player. How about McGoldrick? Berra? Cresswell? Oh wait I forgot that actually YOU are the one living in a football manager world that thinks if you fill your team with players with individual skill, but poor attitude and no teamwork you win games.
I think you need a serious education in this sport. As, although I appreciate you have opinions, they are frankly all ludicrous. So please stop posting complete rubbish, and actually cheer on our club to our best finish is years.

Realist you spout so much crap it's unbelievable maybe get yourself down Portman rd to watch a game or even the u21s Taylor is never going to play for us after this season. You have to be the valet that keeps asking for ferguson to be manager you sir are deluded mm plays to our strengths which not pretty but it works Bournemouth are a better footballing side than us they play that way and good at it.

People still bleating in about Taylor our BEST player our most skilful player lol. Is that the same player that we loaned back to posh a team that was doing well in league ONE and played most games for them while there, he did well in his loan spell didn't he? Lol
When are people going to realise and see him for what he is a player with a bit of skill and pace but not a team player he does well sometimes but when we are up against an attacking threat like Burnley are what will he do for us apart from standing on the wing scratching his head.

Realist it is so refreshing to have someone else to tell it like it is. While I can't agree with you on Ferguson Jnr. I do believe Eddie Howe is by far and away the best manager in the championship. As that schoolkid said about MM, about what he has done on limited resources. Well look what Howe does with limited resources, he plays football the way it should be played, attacking , on the ground, passing game. Now why do we have limited resources? Because we have corporate owner venture capilists who have now realised that a football club will never give them the returns they expected and no way will they risk investing any money into what they perceive as a dead duck. So until the corporate Evans sells up we are left with what we have got. I suppose there will be players coming in in the close season but they will all be the same standard as our captures from Bristol City and the likes of Tabb and Hyam. MM type of boring player. I sometimes think fondly of the days of John Duncan and I thought then things were bad.
