Mike Kemp's Funeral
Tuesday, 19th Nov 2013 13:01

The funeral of Town fan Mike Kemp, who died on his way back to the station after the Blackpool match, will be held at 11am on Wednesday 27th November at St Augustine's Church on Bucklesham Road, Ipswich IP3 8TH. The family have asked that any supporters attending wear a football shirt.

On Saturday, at the Leicester game, the club are going to play Edward Ebeneezer Jeremiah Brown prior to kick-off as a tribute to Kempy.

Lynn, his wife, and his many friends would love it for supporters to stand up, sing, clap and smile as the song is played. A wreath will be placed on his seat in the East of England Co-op Stand.

Kempy, left, with Alasdair

His friend Alasdair Ross told TWTD: “There can be no more fitting tribute to Kempy than the lyric in the song 'Follow the Town, up or down'. Kempy RIP - away matches will never be the same again.”

Alasdair is organising a brick in Mike’s memory which will be placed on the wall of the Sir Bobby Robson Stand, details of how to contribute will follow later.

My guess diamond geezer is that the singing of this song along with clapping to it is an alternative to the minutes applause.

and i suspect also that this is what his family have requested of the club, rather than the applause .think it will be a fitting tribute to him too.

Will be a fitting tribute, I hope it gets well advertised so that most fans going to the match are aware & can all join in

From all the tributes attached on the above link, certainly sounds like he was a true town legend. Let's give him a good send off at PR on Saturday.
