Terrific Night for the Club
Saturday, 19th Oct 2013 06:00

Blues boss Mick McCarthy was thoroughly impressed by England’s U21s during their 5-0 demolition of Lithuania at Portman Road on Tuesday.

McCarthy was delighted that more than 17,000 fans turned up to watch Gareth Southgate’s youngsters in action: “It was a terrific night for the club.

"It was great to see such a big crowd at an England U21 game. I really enjoyed the game.

“I thought that England had some really good players, they were miles better. I only watched the first half, I went home to watch the senior game just after half-time.

“They were just so much better, it was like forwards against defence, so the game wasn’t particularly good.

“But I loved the attacking players that England had on show, I thought they were terrific, the way they tried to use their skills.

“I thought that Saido Berahino, Wilfried Zaha, Tom Ince and Ravel Morrison were just outstanding, they murdered the opposition, but it was nice to see those players.”

Hmm, so Mick went home to watch England v Poland. He could've watched the Republic of Ireland vs Kazakhstan. Read what you will into that.

There's only one Mick McCarthy! COYB!
