Skuse Enjoying Life at Town
Wednesday, 21st Aug 2013 06:01

Cole Skuse is enjoying life with Ipswich after ending a long association with former club Bristol City to join up at Portman Road in the summer.

Skuse, 27, clocked up more than 300 games for his hometown club, having joined them while still at primary school, but felt the time was right to move on.

He said: “I was actually at City for 17 years in all and I think I had got to the stage where I just needed a fresh start for myself and my family. It’s flattering that a club the size of Ipswich showed an interest and it didn’t take long for me to make my decision.

“I love it here, I absolutely love it. For the first few weeks I was up here by myself and my wife, my daughter and our two dogs were back in Bristol. But they’ve moved up to Ipswich now and we’ve all settled in really well.

“It’s a lovely place and where we’re staying is really nice. It’s quiet and relaxed. As for the football, the lads have made me feel very welcome and I feel as if I’ve settle in okay.

“Ipswich and Bristol City are similar clubs but I think it’s even more of a family club here. You only have to look at the Open Day and what they laid on for all ages.

“There were middle-aged men crashing around in big, blown up footballs. It was a very good day and I know the club try their utmost to do their bit for all areas of the support.

“It was the same as any other day in training but it’s nice for the fans to be able to come and see what happens behind the doors, so to speak, and what happens from day to day.”

Sounds genuine to me this. Top lad, and I agree with previous posts - could be another Holland or Magilton for us.

Having heard his comments about Murphy's striking abilities he's certainly an optimist.
Does look a good player though.

Really like this guy. Sounds a very down to earth bloke. Think he'd make a brilliant captain too. In the month he's been with us he's probably done more interviews than Carlos Edwards in 4 years.

Definately future captain material i think. Hes started off really well and my city supporting mate called him "the lick" which means hes pretty good. Hope theres room for him and Hyam in our succesful midfield.
